The HACK to Getting on Your Favorite Rides at Disney World With Shorter Waits

We won’t sugarcoat it. The crowds at Disney World recently have been pretty intense in some places.

With spring break season well underway, TRON: Lightcycle/Run opening, Easter on its way, and EPCOT’S Flower and Garden Festival in full swing, there are plenty of people trying to visit the Most Magical Place on Earth. With those crowds can come some high wait times. One way to combat high wait times is to purchase Genie+ or Lightning Lanes, but the prices for those can be high. Not to mention, these can sell out. What else can you do to give yourself the best chance to ride your favorite attractions without super long waits?

Have no fear, there are still ways to experience the rides you have on your Disney bucket list. If you take a look at the list of wait times from April 3rd, 2023 below, you’ll see that some of the lowest wait times happened right when the parks first opened.

You probably already know where we’re going with this, and you might already be picturing how warm your hotel bed is, but rope dropping is a great way to ride some of the top attractions on your list with shorter waits.

If you’re wondering what “rope dropping” is, it’s just Disney terminology for showing up to the park before it first opens and being among the first people to enter Disney’s lands and attractions. And remember that if you stay at a Disney World hotel you can get even more time in the parks thanks to Early Theme Park Entry. That allows you to enter any park (as long as you have a Park Pass for it) 30 minutes before the official park opening.

Another thing you could do is wait until the end of the night when some rides might also have shorter wait times. Or you can be particularly observant with the My Disney Experience app and watch for sudden drops in wait times.
