Disney+ just quietly announced a new Tinker Bell show! The live-action series Tink will follow Tinker Bell in a romantic comedy drama.

Per Deadline, a live-action Tink film was in development back in 2010 as a romantic comedy with Elizabeth Banks set to star as the titular fairy. The project was revived in 2015 with Reese Witherspoon as the tinker sprite, but was axed when Gary Marsh, former President and Chief Creative Officer at Disney Branded Television, left Disney Branded Television to create Disney General Entertainment in 2021.

The current version of Tink will be executive-produced by Gary Marsh under Disney’s 20th Television. The series will be written by Liz Heldens and Bridget Carpenter, who previously collaborated on the NBC sports drama Friday Night Lights.

Heldens was the creator, executive producer, and showrunner on medical drama Mercy, crime drama Deception, and network dramedies Camp and The Big Leap. She was also an executive producer of FOX’s The Orville and Hulu’s The Dropout.

Bridget Carpenter got her start on Showtime’s Dead Like Me before creating Hulu’s 11.22.63. She has written and produced series including Parenthood, The Red Road, Westworld, King Shaka, and Only Murders in the Building. She wrote the script and music for Disney Channel Original Movie Freaky Friday.
