Disney Cruise Line Ships: Disney Destiny – Everything You Need to Know
Updated on August 27th, 2024
Disney Cruise Line is just rolling out one new thing after another!

This summer, Disney Cruise Line will open a new island destination called Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. Then, later this year, the Disney Treasure will set sail for the first time. But what do you have to look forward to after that? Another NEW ship!
Disney Cruise Line has just announced that the next ship will be named the Disney Destiny! It will set sail for the first time in 2025.

As officially announced by Disney in late August 2025, the Destiny’s maiden voyage will be a four-night cruise that’s scheduled to depart from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on November 20th, 2025.

Disney Destiny Theme
The ship will have a first-of-its-kind design theme, focusing on Disney heroes and villains. Disney shared a video on YouTube with some backstory on the theme. Onboard the ship, you’ll encounter heroes and villains alike from stories including The Lion King, Hercules, and 101 Dalmatians.
Aboard the Disney Destiny, you must choose a side: Heroes or Villains.
Heroes and Villains will inspire the ship’s theme and will draw “on the legacies of beloved Disney stories, characters, and theme park attractions.”

According to Disney, Imagineers were “inspired by the dynamic duality of every great Disney story when developing this new ship, where opposing forces of light and dark drive characters to rise to their purpose.” Look out for both heroes and villains onboard the ship, including characters from The Lion King, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, and Hercules. Disney teased new spaces, experiences, and entertainment on the ship inspired by the heroes and villains of those popular Disney films.
Minnie Mouse “embodies the spirit of the Disney Destiny” and will be featured in the filigree artwork for the bow of the ship.

And, according to theme park reporter Scott Gustin, the Destiny will set sail in December 2025 with bookings opening for the new ship on August 9th. Luckily, we’ll know the details of this incredible new ship by then so you can decide if a voyage on the new Disney Destiny is right for you! Speaking of planning a trip…
Disney Destiny Timeline
Currently, the ship is scheduled for delivery in 2025 and will join the Disney Cruise Line’s new fleet of ships, including the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and the Disney Adventure, which will have a homeport in Singapore. Stay tuned for booking information and a sailing timeline!

Dining & Lounges
The Disney Destiny is set to make its maiden voyage in 2025. Like all other Disney ships before it, it will have rotational dining, as well as some additional signature dining restaurants. The theme is Heroes and Villains and will draw “on the legacies of beloved Disney stories, characters, and theme park attractions.”
Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King
If you’re a fan of The Lion King, then you better buckle up, because the classic film is getting its own restaurant! This new dining experience will be the first of its kind, bringing “the iconic songs and legendary moments of the renowned animated classic to life for your family throughout dinner.”

During your meal, you will witness a musical story of the soundtrack from The Lion King, where performers will use authentic African instruments and theatrical props to represent the characters. Some of the songs included will be “Circle of Life,” “Hakuna Matata,” “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” “He Lives in You” from the Broadway show, and a mashup of “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” with “Be Prepared.”
Edna Á La Mode Sweets
Inspired by the “Auntie Edna” short film, Edna Mode’s lab has been turned into a confectionery on the Disney Destiny. Her sewing equipment will be repurposed into devices that make sweet treats, and the menu will be filled with favorites like gelato, ice cream, cookies, candies, and specialty treats.

The space will even include sculptures of Edna Mode and Jack-Jack!
Cafe Megara & Cafe Merida
Just off of the Great Hall, you’ll find two casual walk-up cafes with a selection of coffee, tea, specialty beverages, and snacks. One will pay homage to Hercules with a “Greco disco” design, while the other will be Celtic-inspired to pay homage to Pixar’s Brave.
Cask and Cannon
Get ready for this one, Pirates of the Caribbean fans. A lounge called Cask and Cannon was just announced for the Destiny and it’s themed to the iconic ride!

Disney says, “guests will join the ranks of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” for an evening of revelry, recreation and — of course — rum.” Of course, this bar is inspired by scenes and characters from the Disney Parks attractions around the world.
The new pub is described as “an eclectic yet cozy watering hole furnished with treasures “acquired” (read: pillaged and pilfered) during the pirates’ many voyages around the globe.”

The bar will feature an extensive menu of rare, specialty, and vintage rums, as well as “bootlegged” brews that will be developed exclusively for this spot. Better yet, they’ll be served straight from a barrel just like a pirate! Disney also noted that there will be live televised sporting events.

As of this writing, Disney has not revealed any concept art for the lounge, so we’ll be on the lookout for that in the future. We can’t help but think it will be similar to the Pirates of the Caribbean lounge coming to Magic Kingdom. We’re still waiting on more details for that!
De Vil’s
If you’re a hardcore Disney fan, you’ve probably seen 101 Dalmatians and maybe some of the spin offs including the live-action Cruella. Now, you’ll be able to visit a lounge dedicated to the puppy-obsessed villain called De Vil’s on the Disney Destiny!
De Vil’s is a piano lounge that will debut on the Disney Destiny. It’s the first of its kind, meaning you won’t find it on any existing Disney cruise ship, including the Treasure, which sets sail later this year.
Disney says, “Amid sultry tunes from the spotted piano, guests will wind down in style with trendy martinis, chic cocktails, and glamorous wines and bubbles.” We can’t wait to see the kind of specialty drinks they have here! So far, Disney released one piece of concept art.

This lounge, like many others, will be exclusive to adults and have a bold aesthetic, just like Cruella herself. The best part? One side of De Vil’s will be open to the Grand Hall, so you can have a perfect view of the main area of the ship. How cool is that?
Haunted Mansion Parlor
Disney announced that like its sister ship, the Disney Treasure, the Destiny will have a Haunted Mansion Parlor!
That’s right, folks. Now, there are TWO spots on the Seven Seas where you can sip your libations with grim, grinning ghosts! These land-lovin’ ghouls are stretching their sea legs and their hauntingly fun cocktails are sure to be a fun addition to any cruise experience.

Like the parlor and information we’ve received about the lounge coming to the Disney Treasure, this location on the Destiny “will invoke inspiration from the original theme park attraction with a nautical twist exclusive to Disney Cruise Line.”
It promises to have all of the charm, classic humor, and spooky storyline from the beloved Disney park attraction, but with a new seafaring theme, some familiar ghouls, and perhaps some new eerie friends for you to meet during your cruise.

Disney is pulling out all of the stops for this one. There will be a new unique theme centered around the ship’s captain, a custom music arrangement created just for this location, spooky specialty cocktails, and even unique, exclusive souvenirs!

There is no better way to reminisce about your Disney Cruise memories than sipping from your exclusive Haunted Parlor souvenir. Will they be the same as the Haunted Parlor character Tiki Mugs we’ve seen released for the Disney Treasure? Or will we get new characters to expand the collection? We can’t wait to find out!
Staterooms
Disney says the staterooms will offer “a hero’s welcome” for cruisers!

Check out the Hercules artwork above the pull-down bed!

The Concierge staterooms will feature artwork inspired by Fantasia.

And here’s a look at a Concierge Solarium Suite.

The Disney Destiny cruise ship will have Royal Suites themed for Hercules…

…and The Incredibles!

Here’s an artist rendering of the Hercules suite bathroom. Gorgeous!

The Destiny’s concierge guests will also have a private lounge and sun deck.
Tower Suite
The Tower Suites are the most exclusive, opulent, and expensive rooms in Disney’s fleet. These two-story behemoths are located in the false funnels on several of the line’s ships and provide themed luxury while at the same time putting their guests right in the middle of the ship’s hustle and bustle. Those lucky enough to stay in the Disney Destiny’s tower suite will be able to live like everyone’s favorite “Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist” Tony Stark.

Entertainment
Frozen, A Musical Spectacular
Disney Cruise Line is famous for its Broadway-style productions, and those on the Disney Destiny can enjoy a special performance of “Frozen, A Musical Spectacular” and “Disney Seas the Adventure” in the Walt Disney Theatre.

These shows are super popular, so make sure to carve out some time during your cruise to check them out!
Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party
Who doesn’t love a good pirate night? Great news — the Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party is confirmed for the Disney Destiny! This is a lively nighttime spectacular that takes place on the upper deck of the ship.

Look out for a live rock band and Disney Cruise Line’s famous fireworks at sea.
Family Activities
Who’s ready to get ACTIVE? At the Hero Zone, you can enjoy an Incredibles obstacle course and free-play sports. Disney calls this a “futuristic sports arena” for families — so all are welcome!

Additionally, you and your family can embark on a virtual quest around the ship as you play Disney Uncharted Adventure on your phone. This is such a fun activity and helps you learn how to navigate the ship.

Don’t forget to stop by for a movie break! Both the Wonderland and Never Land Cinemas are confirmed for the Disney Destiny, so you can enjoy first-run films at sea!
AquaMouse
You probably know about AquaMouse, Disney’s signature water coaster located on the upper decks of its newer cruise ships. AquaMouse is a 760-foot-long water ride. The ride has different themes on the different ships, and Disney has confirmed a villainous pre-show for the ride on the Destiny!

But don’t worry — this doesn’t seem like a super scary ride! Disney says the storyline is “quirky” and will star Mickey and Minnie!
“In “Sing a Silly Song,” Mickey and Minnie will lead guests on a seemingly ominous trek to the peak of Villain Mountain. When faced with some of the most fearsome villains of Disney Animation lore, the duo will employ a silly song — and a bit of pixie dust — to transform each chilling encounter into a wacky surprise,” according to Disney.
OK, this sounds FUN!

We expect to encounter the Queen of Hearts (“Alice in Wonderland”), Scar (“The Lion King”), and Chernabog (“Fantasia”) on the ride. And there’s a new song for the ride, too — written by Emmy award-winning composer Christopher Willis and lyricist Elyse Willis.
And Disney says this will be one of FOUR shows on the ride — so you can ride multiple times and have different experiences!
Kids Spaces
Just like Disney’s other cruise ships, the Destiny will have plenty of spots just for kids and teens! You and your little ones can check out:
- Disney’s Oceaneer Club — Children ages 3 to 10 can enjoy several immersive spaces inspired by Marvel Super Heroes, Disney princesses, Star Wars characters, Disney Imagineers, and Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse
- Edge — Tweens ages 11 to 13 can hang out, make friends, and play games in a casual hangout area inspired by a New York City loft
- Vibe — Those ages 14 to 17 have access to a trendy loft just for teens, complete with movies, games, and group activities

That’s just a taste of all the EPIC entertainment coming to the Disney Destiny ship!
Characters
On the Disney Destiny, we will encounter loads of villains — including Maleficent, Hades, Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, Mr. Smee and Oogie Boogie. Captain Jack Sparrow, Bruno, and Loki have been mentioned too! These characters will appear through a variety of shows, meet-and-greets, and special appearances throughout the ship.

But, that’s not all!! Of course, heroes will also be onboard the ship. You can expect to see characters from The Lion King, Hercules, and One Hundred and One Dalmatians as well. Specific characters have not yet been mentioned.

Destinations
The Disney Destiny will set sail on its first journey in November 2025! The new ship will offer four and five-night cruises to The Bahamas and Western Caribbean during its inaugural season.

Yes, the ship will stop at one or both of Disney Cruise Line’s private destinations. Those are Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, which recently debuted.
Interesting Facts
This new ship also reached a major construction milestone with a keel laying ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. This is a maritime tradition to bestow good luck upon the vessel.

This ship is part of Disney Cruise Line’s multi-year expansion that started with the Disney Wish and will include Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, the new Disney Treasure, and the upcoming Disney Adventure that will homeport in Singapore.

We’ll make sure to keep you updated with more news about this ship as Disney shares details. Stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!
