Why Everyone Will Want a Disneyland Ticket on August 8th

We’re gearing up for one of the biggest Disney events of the year!

D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is coming up soon in Anaheim, California. The three-day event features panels and showcases with all the hottest Disney news, including details on upcoming projects and the latest Disney offerings. Usually, the weekend features quite a few big announcements! And if you’re planning to be in the area, we’ve got an extra-special way that you can celebrate.

Before D23 starts on August 9th, you can attend the ultimate kick-off party! The first-ever D23 Day at Disneyland Resort will take place on August 8th. Keep in mind that valid theme park admission and theme park reservations are both required for everyone hoping to visit.

As part of the festivities, the Disney Jr. Let’s Play! Party in Disney California Adventure will feature special entertainment and activities for families. It will include characters from Disney Jr.’s Ariel, Mickey Mouse Funhouse, Superkitties, and more.

At 10:30AM, the California Adventure parade route will be filled with lively music as Disney Jr. characters participate in a parade with drummers and dressed-up vehicles. This will include the first parks appearance of Disney Jr.’s Ariel!

For those who enter the parks first thing in the morning, a limited quantity of complimentary Mickey Mouse ear hats featuring the D23 Day at Disneyland Resort logo will be available. Then, at 12:15PM, Disneyland Park will host a special cavalcade with 23 different characters and Disney Legends to celebrate the occasion.

And around both parks, you may spot some rare characters making limited-time appearances! Disney has shared that Goofy and Max will be meeting in Mickey’s Toontown, while Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear from Toy Story 3 can be spotted at Pixar Pier. At Tomorrowland Terrace, a dance party with Stitch and friends will keep the fun going from 1PM-6PM. Then, from 7PM-11PM, music group Suburban Legends will take the stage.

If you’re hoping to shop some special merchandise on that day, we’ve got great news! Disney’s new Tarzan 25th Anniversary collection will drop on August 8th at Disneyana at Disneyland Park, Off the Page at Disney California Adventure, and WonderGround Gallery in the Downtown Disney District. But you might also want to keep your eyes peeled for some special apparel and souvenirs commemorating the first-ever D23 Day, according to Disney!

From August 8th-11th, four new D23 Day at Disneyland Resort medallions will be available. You can purchase them at Candy Palace and Candy Kitchen in Disneyland, Kingswell Shop at California Adventure, and near the Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage and lawn at Downtown Disney.

As an added bonus, ALL guests visiting Disneyland or Disney California Adventure on August 8th will receive complimentary Disney PhotoPass downloads. Don’t forget to snag the special Magic Shot!

In addition to all these celebrations, Hollywood Land will have a special arts and crafts area, as well as performances with Disney Jr. characters at the Hollywood Backlot Stage. This Disney Jr. fun will continue August 9th-11th at the Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage.
