CHANGES Hit This Disney World Hotel Perk, and We Don’t Love It

The Disney Dining Plan just changed – a lot! For 2027, there’s a new tier to the dining plan, and a beloved perk (which literally included eating for free) was removed.

Let’s eat!

For 2026, if you book a stay at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel and purchase a dining plan with your vacation package for the other members of the family (ages 9 and up), then kids ages 3 to 9 can get the Dining Plan for FREE! Yep, kiddos can eat for free, which can save you some major money. Unfortunately, this offer is going away in 2027, and Disney is instead offering 20% off Dining Plans for kids. Major downgrade!

First up, what is the Disney Dining Plan? The Disney Dining Plan is a prepaid meal service that gives you a certain number of credits per day to use on meals, snacks, and drinks across Walt Disney World Resort. The Disney Dining Plan is exclusive to guests with Resort Packages. This means you must be staying at a Disney Resort and have park tickets linked to your stay!

There are so many pros and cons to the new Disney Dining Plan for 2027. To start, the new Deluxe Table-Service Dining Plan is best for a full park day. You’ll get a quick-service meal for breakfast, two table-service meals for lunch and dinner, and a snack. This is the only plan that offers three meals a day! If you’re a massive foodie, this new plan is a great fit.

The Disney Dining Plan used to have an offer where kids ages 3 to 9 ate for free as well. You now have to purchase a Dining Plan for this age group, but you get 20% off. Families that have used the Dining Plan for its value for kids’ meals may not benefit from this change. Yeah, 20% off is not the same as free — at all.

Disney fans are pretty upset that kids’ dining is no longer free. Considering it’s been a longstanding perk for years, this can massively impact planning budgets! Plus, you can’t purchase the Dining Plan for only the adults in your party – everyone in the room reservation above 3 would need a plan. If you’re on a tight budget with your family, the Disney Dining Plan may no longer be a good option for you.

Is it worth getting the Disney Dining Plan? Well, this is something we’ve debated for years, and while it is convenient, we tend to lean on the side of no, unless you plan on getting the most expensive item on the menu that qualifies on the Dining Plan. Now that kids can’t eat for free, we’re starting to question if it’s worth it even more
