REVIEW: Topolino’s Terrace Is STILL Worth The Dinner Reservation in Disney World — Here’s Why

Planning a trip to Disney World and not sure where you should eat while you’re there? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!

Topolino’s Terrace

Here at AllEars, we know all the ins and outs of Disney restaurants — including where you should definitely eat, and where you should skip. It’s known by lots of frequent Disney goers that sometimes, the best restaurants are found at the Disney World hotels, and we can’t argue with that! One of our favorite restaurants for the longest time has been Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort, but is that still the case? We headed over for dinner to try it out!

Background

Riviera Resort is Disney’s 15th Disney Vacation Club Resort and is home to some of our favorite restaurants on property. Topolino’s Terrace specifically has one of our favorite (and often underrated) character breakfasts in the mornings, but then also has a great dinner offering each evening.

Here’s what you need to know about dining at this restaurant.

Atmosphere

This restaurant feels a bit more upscale without making you feel out of place in your regular theme park attire. Breakfast feels a little more laid back than dinner, but rest assured, there’s no fancy dress code here that renders you out of luck if you’re wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

Topolino’s Terrace

As it’s located on the rooftop of Riviera Resort, dining here at night offers great views of the fireworks from EPCOT and Hollywood Studios’ nighttime shows.

In Italy, Mickey Mouse himself is known as Topolino, so it’s only fitting that this restaurant serves up dishes inspired by Italy and the French Riviera.

But enough about that, what are we eating?!

Food & Drinks

We started off with the complimentary Bread Basket, which comes to every table. It was fresh, easy to tear apart thanks to being in the shape of wheat stocks, and it was served with high-quality olive oil that was perfect for dipping. The bread is baked fresh every day, and we could certainly taste it in each bite.

Bread Basket

Next up was the Heirloom Beet Salad for $19, which is made with Goat Cheese Panna Cotta, Clementine, and Pistachio Brittle.

Heirloom Beet Salad

There are SO many flavors going on — it’s like a choose your own adventure with every bite! There’s bitter, there’s sweet, creamy, and citrus! The goat cheese has fresh cracked pepper, and taking small bites of it. No two bites are the same here, and that’s what made it so fun. The goat cheese has fresh cracked pepper on it, which we adored. You’ve got to be a bit more of an adventurous eater for it, but we think it’s totally worth it!

This is such a unique salad!

Our main course was the Duck À L’Orange for $57, which is made with Celeriac Mousse, Endive, Panisse, Blood Orange Gastrique, and Wild Mushrooms.

Duck À L’Orange

The duck is so amazingly tender and was perfectly cooked medium. However, that means that if you’re not a fan of medium duck, this may not be for you, as our server did let us know it is always cooked this way. The sauce is very citrus-forward, as the orange comes through very well and cuts the richness of the duck beautifully.

Delicious!

The orange sauce permeates into the duck, creating a caramelized finish. The purée lends this creamy, wonderful texture, and mixed with the orange sauce and duck, it makes for a beautiful bite, and the sautéed mushrooms also add an earthiness that creates some gorgeous, unique flavors with every bite.

We highly recommend!

For dessert, we picked up the Tiramisu Crème Brûlée for $15, which is made with Mascarpone Crème Brûlée, Espresso-soaked Lady Finger, Coffee Whipped Panna Cotta, and Dark Chocolate Ganache.

Tiramisu Crème Brûlée

This is playful in the best way. The idea is that all the little squiggles and dollops are all components that make up a traditional tiramisu, so you’ll want to take a bit of each aspect to get the full flavor. The crème brûlée/ panna cotta is very creamy, and the top has a very satisfying shatter. There’s a coffee swizzle cream across the plate, which is absolutely delicious with the dark chocolate dollops. It’s a light and airy dessert, and we love the creative spin on it!

Grab a bite of each component!

To drink, we picked up the Passion Fruit Whiskey Sour for $17.50, which is made with Passion Fruit Whiskey.

Passion Fruit Whiskey Sour

This cocktail is a reinterpretation of a classic whiskey sour, and the passion fruit makes this drink citrus-forward with sour notes that are highly enjoyable. The whiskey almost takes the backseat because of the acidity from the passionfruit, so even those who aren’t a fan of whiskey won’t find it too overwhelming!

Magic or Tragic?

This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…

  • If you want a “this feels fancy but still Disney” meal, this is the Riviera’s rooftop showpiece. With two completely different offerings between breakfast and dinner, it’s fantastic for a large number of different people.
  • If you’re traveling with a group that would like a solid, elevated meal, and you enjoy more unique eats. There are lots of different options on this menu, but they’re all a little more “out there,” so picky eaters may prefer breakfast instead.
  • If you’re celebrating something or want an extra special experience. It’s elevated French- and Italian-inspired cuisine with handmade pastas, seafood, and meat dishes, and it’s explicitly a Disney Signature Dining experience. (Translation: “date night” energy, not “we’re grabbing something quick between rides” energy.)

You should skip this Disney World spot if…

  • If you’re on a budget. This is a splurge. Disney lists both breakfast and dinner in the $$$ range, and dinner also redeems 2 Table-Service meals per person on the Disney Dining Plan.
  • If you’re coming straight from the pool expecting to slide in wearing flip-flops and a wet cover-up… nope. Dinner has a dress code: clean/neat attire, and no swimwear.
  • If you’re flaky planners. Disney dining plays for keeps. Most locations charge a $10 per-person fee for canceling within 2 hours or no-shows, and Topolino’s also notes it has its own cancellation/modification policy tied to the card on file.

This restaurant remains one of our favorites for good reason, but we do think it’s important to know what you’re getting into, so we recommend looking at the menu beforehand to make sure you’ll enjoy the items on the menu.

In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for the latest Disney news and more!
