A huge change has just taken place in Disneyland Park, and while we’ve known it was coming, it’s still a stark difference from what we’ve come to know from Galaxy’s Edge.

Yes, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run is changing on May 22nd in Disneyland, Disney World, and Disneyland Paris, but that’s not the change that just happened throughout the whole land. The ENTIRE timeline throughout the land has shifted, and Star Wars fans are already sharing their thoughts.
On April 29th, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland got a timeline refresh. Previously, the land existed during the sequel trilogy of films, but now, with this timeline change, the original trilogy and the prequel films will ALSO exist inside the same world.

This brings new characters to the land, such as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo, but they’re not meeting in the same areas as others, because you’re still able to meet the sequel characters in the land, which include The Mandalorian and Grogu, Ahsoka Tano, Rey, and R2-D2.

You can also now see Darth Vader walking around with Imperial Troopers to hunt down the Rebellion instead of Kylo Ren, who’s now meeting guests at the Disney Visa photo spot in Tomorrowland.

To match these timeline updates, certain shops have also changed. The First Order Cargo Shop will become Black Spire Surplus, the Droid Depot will bring in an earlier generation of the Mubo family to operate the depot, and over at Savi’s Workshop, you may even see Luke Skywalker meeting up with Savi to learn more about the Force.

There’s also new music throughout the land, all from the films, which was done by the legend himself, John Williams. You’ll hear “Main Title” and “Force Theme” as you enter Batuu, the Cantina Band song will play in Oga’s Cantina, and you’ll want to listen for other music throughout the land.

But how are guests feeling about this new change? Is it confusing or agitating to jump between different storylines? We asked two of our reporters who experienced the land firsthand to ask for their honest thoughts, and both of them said they LOVE the change, and all the guests they’ve spoken to feel the same way.

In fact, many guests have gone as far as to say that they feel this is how it should have been since its opening. We heard lots of people comment on their love for the music change and the characters, and how it’s brought a new life and draw to the area again. It also makes it more enjoyable for the people who aren’t as familiar with the newer Star Wars timelines and only really know the originals. Many guests are also already saying they’d love to see the change brought to Disney World as well — we’ll have to wait and see!

We’ll continue to keep an eye on these changes and how they impact the experience in the land, so stay tuned to AllEars!
