For the first time ever, you’ll see Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Darth Vader roaming the land. Luke Skywalker has visited the planet Batuu before, but now he will be a permanent resident. We’ve got all the details here!

In early 2025, we asked, “Does Disney’s new character announcement mean a major change is coming to Galaxy’s Edge?” after Luke Skywalker was set to appear. It blew the previous timeline wide open, and Disney seems to have hopped on that train!

After nearly seven years, it was time for a change. Although the characters are roaming, here’s where you can expect to see them:

  • Luke Skywalker will roam the outpost seeking knowledge of the Force and artifacts related to lightsaber building and kyber crystals. We have a feeling he’ll love hanging out around Savi’s Workshop then!

  • Leia Organa may be spotted near the Millennium Falcon, where she’ll recruit travelers and locals to help keep Luke safe.

  • Han Solo will also linger around his prized ship, tempted by the local cantina. I mean, who can say no to Oga’s Cantina?!

  • Darth Vader’s search for Luke Skywalker will bring him to Batuu. This Sith Lord will be joined by Imperial Stormtroopers, and they may find hints of the Force around the outpost.

It’s also important to note that Leia will have an all-new look. Inspired by comic book iterations and Star Wars: Battlefront, Lucasfilm and Disney created a new iconic costume she’ll debut in Galaxy’s Edge. Disney has not publicly shared the new costume just yet, but we’ll be sure to update you when they do.

So what happens to the current characters? Well, many of them are sticking around. For example, Rey will be hanging out around the Resistance base, so head there if you want to join the cause!

Chewbacca will be helping Han with the Falcon, while R2D2 will be rolling around, probably hanging out with his buddies near Droid Depot.

Don’t worry — you’ll still see The Mandalorian, Grogu, and Ahsoka Tano. Find them near the marketplace!

Finally, Kylo Ren is one of the bigger location changes. He will be meeting at the Disney Visa Cardmember exclusive meet and greet over in Tomorrowland. This is currently where visitors can meet Darth Vader, but in April, they will switch.

This completely changes Galaxy’s Edge since its opening in 2019, and we’re eager to see what fans think of it. If you’re a huge Star Wars fan, we’d recommend moving your Disneyland trips to May to catch these changes on April 29th and/or the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride changes on May 22nd.
