Disney World Shares Behind-the-Scenes Look at Its NEWEST Hotel

With every passing week, we’re getting closer and closer to the opening of the new Disney World hotel, Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge.

This Disney Vacation Club hotel is set to open in Summer 2027 and is being built on the former home of Disney’s River Country water park. The new hotel is “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists,” and thanks to flyovers from @bioreconstruct, we’ve been able to get an aerial look at what construction has been looking like. However, now there’s a BIG update, thanks to Disney, actually — we got a look INSIDE and around the hotel, and even some new concept art!

Disney just released the first episode of a new behind-the-scenes series they’re calling Pardon Our Pixie Dust, and the first thing they did was give us a look at how the construction on Lakeshore Lodge is going!

Disney Imagineer Colin Happ, a Senior Construction Manager, showed us around in this section of the video, sharing with us that a lot of the steel involved in the project is in place (about 800 tons of steel!), and the outside of the hotel is also underway, including stucco, windows, and sliders. He also shared they’re beginning to work on the entry features on either side of the entrance.

We also got taken INSIDE the hotel to take a look at how some of the guest corridors and guest rooms are taking shape. Colin shared that a lot of the rooms are in their rough-in stage, which is the initial stage after construction where you begin working on plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work. They’re also beginning to work on the swing doors, the finishings, and the MEPF aspects, which stand for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and firefighting components.

That’s not all, though! We also got a look at NEW concept art for the hotel! One of the first things we noticed was the birds flying on the left, which doesn’t mean anything, but we just find it a little funny, because SO much of Disney’s concept art for new projects involves birds flying basically anywhere and everywhere. On a serious note, in comparison to other concept art we’d previously seen, this one gives us a wider look, allowing us to see past the entrance.

We’re able to see that the bus stop, it seems, will be to the left side of the resort’s entrance, not far at all, while there appears to be more of a walking path/area with plenty of flora on the right. It also looks like cars driving up to the front of the hotel will have a large, partly covered roundabout to use to turn around. So if it’s raining while your Uber or Lyft drops you off, you don’t need to worry about getting soaked! This is different from the previous concept art, which showed more of a walking path up to the hotel.
