EPCOT Is Closing EARLY on This Random July Date — Here’s What You Should Know

We love heading to EPCOT in July! There’s no better way to celebrate America’s birthday than watching the Voices of Liberty with a Tennessee Lemonade.

But EPCOT will close early on one random date in July! If you’re headed to Disney World the first week of July, you might want to reschedule your EPCOT day.

On Wednesday, July 1st, 2026, EPCOT will open normally at 9 AM, but will close early at 5:30 PM. For reference, EPCOT usually closes at 9 PM! In addition to EPCOT closing early, there won’t be a showing of Luminous: The Symphony of Us either.

While we don’t know the exact reason for EPCOT closing early, it’s likely due to a corporate buyout. Companies will often buy out a theme park for private access for the night. For example, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will close early at 6 PM on June 18th for a human resources conference, and conference attendees will have access to low wait times and free snacks.

If you’re headed to EPCOT on Wednesday, July 1st, we’d recommend going to another park that day if you don’t have a park hopper ticket. EPCOT is most popular at night with sit-down dining, plentiful bars, and extravagant fireworks, so you’d be missing a large part of what EPCOT has to offer.

If you can park hop, then the early closure could mean fewer crowds! We’d recommend going to EPCOT in the morning, then park-hopping to Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios in the afternoon. I love heading to parks on early closure days, which is how I rode Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind with only a 20-minute wait!

If you have your heart set on watching fireworks on July 1st, you can still catch Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom and Fantasmic! at Hollywood Studios. These are both great nighttime spectaculars filled with fireworks and Disney magic. But if you’re sold on Luminous, visit EPCOT on a day other than July 1st for a showing.
