The only thing worse than a ride being closed on your Universal vacation is not being aware that a ride is closed and then being disappointed.

That’s why we are here! To keep you informed of every ride closure so you can be prepared and plan your Universal trip accordingly. So let’s get into all five rides that will be closed in May at Universal Orlando.
Let’s start at Epic Universe. This first closure is very brief but still important to know!

Over in Super Nintendo World, Mine Cart Madness will be closed on May 3rd. So if this is a high priority for you and your party, maybe choose a different day to visit Epic!
Next up, we are traveling over to The Isle of Berk.

Here, the Viking Training Camp playground will be closed from May 4th to May 22nd. But if you have little ones who need to get their energy out, don’t worry! Head over to the Astronomica splash pad in Celestial Park!
Now, let’s head over to Islands of Adventure for the rest of the May closures.

Jurassic Park River Adventure has been closed since January 5th, 2026, for an extended closure and will not reopen until November 19th, 2026, so unfortunately, if you’re visiting in May, this one won’t be available. There is another Jurassic Park closure happening in May as well.

Pteranodon Flyers is also experiencing a bit of a lengthy closure. It closed on February 27th, 2026, and will not reopen until May 14th, 2026. However, the fantastic Camp Jurassic playground remains open, and there are plenty of areas for both kids and adults to explore so you can still have some Jurassic Park fun if you’re visiting in May!

Finally, the last closure on our list is coming to Toon Lagoon, where Popeye’s Me Ship, The Olive, will be closed starting May 26, 2026, and continuing through June 9, 2026. This is a walk-through of Popeye’s Ship that allows you to shoot water at the passing rafts on Popeye’s Bilge Rat Barge, and it will still be open for the majority of May.

Overall, there will not be too many ride closures for you if you’re visiting Universal Orlando this May! Make sure to follow AllEars so you never miss out on any ride closures or news!
