One of Epic Universe’s Most Crowded Rides Is Closing This Week

A warning if you’re heading to Epic Universe later this week: One of the Universal park’s most popular attractions is going to be CLOSED.

Mine-Cart Madness

Located in the park’s Super Nintendo World portal, Mine Cart Madness is a family coaster themed to the Donkey Kong video game franchise where riders “appear to jump across gaps in the track and perform other eye-popping feats from the Donkey Kong Country video games.” The ride has proven to be one of the park’s most popular – and in-demand attractions – since Epic Universe opened last May.

That demand should make May 3rd an interesting one at the park as Mine-Cart Madness is set to be closed for the day, according to Universal’s official refurbishment calendar.

As the coaster usually averages lines hovering between an hour and two hours, those riders will be let loose on the park’s 10 other rides: Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, Constellation Carousel, Curse of the Werewolf, Dragon Racer’s Rally, Fyre Drill, Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, Stardust Racers, and Yoshi’s Adventure.

Those extra riders will likely lead to even longer waits than usual for these attractions, especially the in-demand Potter, Mario, and Monsters rides, as well as Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, given its nature as the park’s other family coaster option.

Hiccup’s Wing Gliders!

These issues will only be exacerbated further if it rains, as SEVEN of those attractions (Constellation Carousel, Curse of the Werewolf, Dragon Racer’s Rally, Fyre Drill, Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, Stardust Racers, and Yoshi’s Adventure) are all at least partially outdoors and vulnerable to weather delays. in other words, May 3rd could be a very long day for Battle at the Ministry, Mario Kart Bowser’s Challenge, and Monsters Unchained.

Mine-Cart Madness is currently only scheduled to be closed for one day, with regularly scheduled operating hours set to resume on May 4th. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on Epic Universe’s operating hours.
