A Popular Disneyland Ride Closes Next Week With No Reopening Date in Sight

We’re just days away from one of Disneyland’s most iconic attractions closing for a long-term refurbishment!

Argggh!

May 4th will see the closure of both the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction and its attached Blue Bayou restaurant. These are two Disneyland icons that many visitors wish to experience, so let’s talk about it!

Since its opening in 1967, Pirates of the Caribbean has gone on to become arguably the most successful Disney attraction of all time, spawning variants at Disney resorts all over the world as well as a multibillion-dollar film franchise, all tracing their origins back to the Disneyland original.

The ride also holds the distinction of being the final attraction that Walt Disney personally supervised essentially to completion. As of press time, there is no confirmed reopening date for the attraction.

The Blue Bayou has been serving Disneyland guests for just as long as Pirates, offering guests a simulated outdoor dining environment with views of the ride. The restaurant, which revolutionized what themed dining at a Disney park could be, has remained one of the park’s most popular for nearly 60 years. Unlike Pirates of the Caribbean, the Blue Bayou does have a scheduled reopening date of May 21st.

The restaurant’s page on Disney’s website confirms that the ride will be opening sometime after the Blue Bayou reopens, as it clarifies, “The restaurant will offer a modified dining experience while Pirates of the Caribbean is also under refurbishment, as views will be obstructed and Guests may hear some refurbishment noise.”

Look at that view!

Pirates of the Caribbean and the Blue Bayou are both closing for refurbishment at Disneyland on May 4th, with the former being closed for the foreseeable future. Stay tuned to AllEars for further updates on Disney’s refurbishment schedule.
