NEWS: Disney’s Blue Bayou Restaurant Announces Closure and Changes

We mention frequently how Disney World is undergoing refurbishment and new attraction projects all over the resort, but in truth, Disneyland Resort is seeing much of the same!

Blue Bayou Restaurant

Disneyland Resort is currently seeing the expansion of Avengers Campus, as well as building the new Avatar land in Disney California Adventure, among many others. However, now another one has been added to the list for May — one of the most popular restaurants in Disneyland will be CLOSED for nearly a whole month.

Blue Bayou is an extremely unique restaurant in all of Disneyland Resort. Not only is the atmosphere unlike anything else you’ll find in the resort, but you can also watch the Pirates of the Caribbean ride vehicles begin their journey as they float past the tables of people dining on the Cajun-inspired dishes the restaurant is known for.

Look at that view!

However, the Disneyland website now states that Blue Bayou will close for refurbishment on May 4th, and is tentatively expected to reopen in late May. That means it’ll be closed for just about the whole month, but it’s possible the refurbishment could be shorter or longer.

When we looked closer at the Disneyland app, we also found that Pirates of the Caribbean is listed to close on the same date, and it’s entirely possible that this closure could last for around the same amount of time. However, we can’t know for sure, as Disney hasn’t officially announced this closure on the ride’s page on the website.

However, Disney has confirmed that Blue Bayou will offer a modified dining experience while the ride is closed. The modified experience is due to obstructed views and refurbishment noise. This also means it’s likely the ride’s closure will be longer.

As you can see, Jungle Cruise, Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters, Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin, and the Disneyland Monorail (many of which are closed right now) are also scheduled to be closed at this time. This may be a rough time to visit the parks if you’re looking to experience a lot of the attractions.
