On March 22nd, Disneyland opened its new Bluey experience, Bluey’s Best Day Ever!

We got the chance to experience the show itself, as well as the multiple snacks available for this special event, the day prior, during a media event, but wanted to head back on day one to see how popular the new event really was. As it turns out, we should have been MORE prepared for just how wild these crowds were!
We walked into the park around 10:19 AM, and noticed that mobile orders for Troubadour Tavern, where all the specialty snacks are located, were already all the way out to 3 PM, and getting later the more we kept checking it. We understand — these snacks were pretty solid, and we know lots of families were likely excited to try them out!

The line to get into Fantasyland Theatre was INCREDIBLY long, basically for nearly the whole day. The final two showtimes of the day weren’t showing on the Disneyland App, and we later found out that after the second show of the day, Cast Members cut off the line. The line wove all the way through Fantasyland and went all the way back to Sleeping Beauty Castle!

We also noticed some opening day stressors, including that having Troubadour Tavern and the show in the same place was basically a logistical nightmare because of all the crowds. We also noticed that there were some technical issues with the show, as there are two different versions: a story time and a game show. They’re supposed to alternate, but on opening day, it went story time, game show, then story time twice, and then the final show was the game show.

There was also some confusion around the dance party aspect of the show, just because of how tightly they packed the theatre. There wasn’t any room to dance, except in the very front, so we’re curious to see how this may be adjusted in the near future. There’s also an announcement at the end of each show that says the “friends” from on stage (the dancers) will be in the audience to play games, but that ended up not happening at all yesterday. We assume this was likely due to the capacity issues, as well as the quick turnaround between shows.

There’s no doubt in our mind that this will continue to be a VERY popular experience for many weeks to come, so if you know you want to get in to see the show, we recommend getting in line as early as possible, because it’s very possible you won’t be able to get into the first show (depending on how long the line is). It could be a LOT of waiting, when you could instead be doing other activities around the park, so it’ll be important to weigh whether you want to go to the show or experience what else Disneyland has to offer.
