An ICONIC Universal Orlando Restaurant Is Permanently Closing

Now that Epic Universe has been open for about a year, Universal Orlando is gearing up for some new changes at its other theme parks and at CityWalk.

CityWalk will be getting some new shops and restaurants, while Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure are also getting some HUGE updates. Well, closures are coming with those updates, and Universal Orlando just confirmed four closures across two parks.

Universal will be making updates in its theme parks and at CityWalk, but that means some big changes will have to happen first, including a temporary closure of the Horror Make-Up Show at Universal Studios Florida. The Horror Make-Up Show will close on May 12th and then reopen later this year with a big update. The new show will “showcase a mix of classic and modern horror properties along with shockingly fun surprises – all while staying true to the comedic and irreverent spirit that guests know and love. ”

The Lost Continent at Universal Islands of Adventure will start having a phased closure as the land prepares to permanently close to make way for a new themed land. This includes the closure of the iconic Mythos Restaurant in 2027.

Another Islands of Adventure restaurant, Thunder Falls Terrace, will also be permanently closing this summer to become a new signature full-service restaurant. Expect the new restaurant to open in 2027.

Say goodbye to Hot Dog Hall of Fame on CityWalk and hello to Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice, a restaurant founded by ‘NSYNC member Joey Fatone and his manager Joe Milvihill. Hot Dog Hall of Fame will be closing in July to make way for the new restaurant.

Universal CityWalk

Previously announced changes at Universal Orlando include the addition of Five Guys and Luke Combs’ Category 10 to CityWalk, as well as an all-new roller coaster, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, which is expected to open in Universal Studios Florida in 2027.
