A lot of big changes will be coming to Disneyland over the next few years. For starters, Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure is getting a huge expansion that will add two new rides to the area. A new Avatar-themed land is also in the works, as well as a Coco ride.

In 2024, Disney made a commitment to change one of its classic rides, Autopia, by converting the vehicles from gasoline to electric. Although the initial timeline for that was fall 2026, that timeline has now been confirmed for early 2027.
In 2024, Disney promised that it had plans to change over the Autopia vehicles from being gas-powered to being fully electric. According to The Orange County Register, Disney has officially started to work on a prototype for a fully electric Autopia ride vehicle. Disney also has an agreement with the California Air Resources Board to have the ride converted to fully electric in early 2027.

Disney will reportedly share more details soon about the update to Autopia. However, the company has not yet set a closing date for the ride, though it sounds like it could happen soon.
Autopia is an opening day attraction for Disneyland that simulates driving a car. The vehicles have been gas-powered since 1955, although the ride has received other updates throughout the years. There’s also an equivalent of the ride in Disney World in Magic Kingdom, as well as in Disneyland Paris. Disney has not yet shared plans as to whether those rides will get the electric update, too.

Disneyland has made a sustainability commitment to reach net zero emissions by 2030, and electricfying Autopia is part of that initiative.
We’ll keep an eye out for more Autopia news and let you know when the ride is set to close, so check back with AllEars again soon for more.
