Why Every Disney Adult Is Marking August 15th in Their Calendars

The 2026 D23 Ultimate Fan Event is coming up fast, with Disney fans preparing to converge on Anaheim from August 14th through the 16th for a litany of events.

However, there’s one offering that most fans have zeroed in on: The Disney Experiences Showcase.

Scheduled for 7:00 PM PST on Saturday, August 15th, the Disney Experiences Showcase will take place at the Honda Center (the home of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks). This panel-like presentation will see Disney release the latest news, plans, and information on Walt Disney World, Disneyland, the Disney Cruise Line, and even the company’s foreign parks.

Judging by the 2024 event, these fans are in for a treat. That year’s Disney Experiences Showcase featured a slew of major announcements, including Piston Peak, Villains Land, Tropical Americas, and Monsters, Inc. Land at Walt Disney World, Avatar, Coco, and Avengers attractions at Disneyland (including an appearance from Robert Downey Jr.), and four new Disney Cruise Line ships, among others.

Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase (2024)

So, what kind of blockbuster announcements can we expect at the 2026 Disney Experience Showcase? Well, speculation is that Disney may reveal further details on all or some of the aforementioned Piston Peak, Villains Land, Monsters, Inc. Land, and Tropical Americas. Specifically, attraction names and story details, information on the land’s dining and other thematic elements, and perhaps even potential opening timelines.

Curiosity is especially high for Villains Land information, given the rumors that have been swirling around the land in recent months. Back in February, Wired reported that then-incoming Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro had instructed Imagineers to rethink the land, including reporting that the long-rumored Maleficent coaster was “being converted to a more family-friendly coaster, along the lines of Slinky Dog Dash at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, this time themed to The Emperor’s New Groove.”

Speaking of clarifications, fans are also hoping D23 will shed some light on what’s going on with the Avatar project at Disney’s California Adventure…

… as seemingly unfounded rumors have emerged in recent months that the project had been scrapped and replaced with a Zootopia-themed area similar to that at Shanghai Disneyland.

Of course, beyond these that we know about, there’s also hope that — like in 2024 — Disney may break out some major announcements that no one is speculating on.

In addition to the Disney Experiences Showcase, the D23 Ultimate Fan Event’s Honda Center programming will also feature the Disney Entertainment Showcase – focusing on the company’s films and television series – on Friday, the 14th, and the Disney Legends Award Ceremony on Sunday, which will honor a series of new Disney Legends award recipients, including Susan Egan, Dwayne Johnson, Anne Hathaway, Alan Tudyk, the Jonas Brothers, Lin‑Manuel Miranda, Eric Goldberg, Jerry Bruckheimer, Chris Berman, Kim Irvine, and former CEO Bob Iger.

Meanwhile, the Anaheim Convention Center will be home to the event’s show floor, featuring 50 different panels and presentations across the three-day event, as well as shops and exhibits with new 2026 experiences, including Mundo Pixar: The D23 Experience, ESPN: Road to the Super Bowl, and activations inspired by Bluey, Camp Rock 3, The Simpsons, and the Mickey F1 display, featuring a full Formula 1 car.
