In months and years past, we’ve often found that Disney’s Hollywood Studios is home to some pretty high wait times, all to match the popular attractions that are spread throughout the park.
In recent weeks, though, we’ve noticed that the wait times here appear to be lower than usual, especially for spring break and the intro to summer season. However, we’re here to warn you to NOT get used to these lower wait times, because things are about to change BIG time in a few weeks — both because of summer crowds, AND the amount of reopenings happening!
Let’s take a look at wait times from Friday, May 8th.
Magic Kingdom
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was closed for two hours yesterday, as was The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, which is another ride we continue to get more and more concerned about, and Space Mountain had two closures itself. The longest wait time went to TRON Lightcycle / Run at 80 minutes, right at the end of the day, which isn’t too much of a surprise. We’re taking in these lower wait times while they last, though, because in a few weeks when summer crowds pick up, we’re going to be wishing they were still around!

However, the reasoning behind it made sense, as it was right as Test Track was closed for three hours straight, immediately followed by Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure closing for the last two hours of the day.

Avatar Flight of Passage hit a 120 minute wait right in the middle of the day, which was a bit higher than we expected. However, it was right as Expedition Everest closed for an hour, which was, thankfully, the only ride that closed in the park the whole day. That’s a relief, because this park really can’t handle much else with so much construction all around!

This park is about to see some major changes soon, with the opening of the new Walt Disney Studios land, as well as reopening of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, not to mention the changes coming to Smugglers Run, so we’re really curious to see how wait times will be affected in the coming weeks!
