While some Disney Cruise Line rules — in particular those regarding safety — are pretty straightforward and common for the cruise industry. However, some others are a bit unique, which potential passengers should know for embarking on their next Disney Cruise.

No Walking Allowed in the Diaper Dash

The Diaper Dash is one of the most popular Disney Cruise events for new parents. Usually staged on the journey’s day at sea, the event features a 20-meter race featuring non-walking babies crawling to the finish line as their parents cheer them on. However, believe it or not, a baby who takes their first steps in the baby race will be disqualified.

Watch Out for the Wind

Guests staying in a cabin with a verandah should not open both the verandah and stateroom door at the same time, as this may create a wind tunnel effect and could cause the doors to slam unexpectedly.

Adult Supervision Required

Guests under the age of 18 must be in their stateroom (or supervised by an adult in their party) between the hours of 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM, so apologies to the teens and tweens, but you won’t be able to wander the ship unsupervised in the dead of night.

You Can Buy More than Souvenirs

If you find yourself fond of your cabin’s accoutrements, including bed throws, towels, and even the laundry bag, you’re in luck, as the items are available to purchase for you to bring home. You can talk to your Stateroom Host or Hostess for applicable pricing. Just a heads-up: items removed from your stateroom may be charged directly to your stateroom account.

Shopping is Only Allowed in International Waters

Finally, if you’re a late shopper who was planning to pick up some gifts or souvenirs for yourself, on the final morning of your trip, you are out of luck. The ship’s stores will be CLOSED on the final morning. This is due to several factors, including maritime rules for ships in port, as well as the need to prep the ship for the next voyage. So, if you’ve put your shopping off until close to the end of the trip, make sure to do it the night before!
