The 4 Best Rides To Rope Drop in EPCOT

While there are multiple reasons a guest may rope drop EPCOT — perhaps breakfast in France or an early morning stroll along the World Showcase lagoon — the reality is that many guests are there at the earliest moment possible for one reason: RIDES.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

EPCOT is home to some of Walt Disney World’s most popular attractions, so the question becomes, which of the park’s E-Ticket attractions is the right option to rope drop?

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Going by weekly average wait times, the Marvel Cinematic Universe-based coaster is not only the most popular ride in EPCOT, but it’s in contention for the most popular ride at Disney World, as it often tops the list of highest average wait time at the entire resort most weeks. Waits for the attraction rarely, if ever, average under 60 minutes, so rushing to the ride as quickly as is safely possible in the morning is a good move… with one exception.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is EPCOT’s sole Lightning Lane Single Pass (which allows guests to purchase individual Lightning Lanes for popular attractions not available with Lightning Lane Multi Pass) offering, so if a guest can score a Lightning Lane (which Disney hotel guests are able to do 7 days before their visit, while non-hotel guests can do 3 dats before their visit) they can focus rope dropping one of EPCOT’s other attractions, like…

Test Track

Test track has been an iconic EPCOT fo attraction for decades, but the ride’s popularity — and wait times — have kicked into high gear (no, we couldn’t resist that pun) since the ride reopened in its latest incarnation last year. Average waits for the attraction are almost always over an hour for the ride on a week-to-week basis, sometimes even challenging Cosmic Rewind.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

Guests entering EPCOT through the International Gateway entrance — AKA anyone arriving at the park via the Skyliner or walking from one of the EPCOT resort area hotels — can head directly to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in the France Pavilion. While the trackless dark ride doesn’t quite hit the same average wait times as Cosmic Rewind or Test Track, it still generally hovers around the 50-minute mark.

Frozen Ever After

International Gateway guests can walk a bit more around Walt Showcase to get to Frozen Ever After. The Norway boat ride usually averages similar wait times to the Ratatouille-based ride, though it offers something slightly newer this year. Namely, a collection of new, highly advanced animatronics that were installed earlier this year.

A final note about Test Track, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Test Track: They make up EPCOT’s Tier 1 of Lightning Lane Multi Pass options. Guests who purchase a Multi Pass (once again, hotel guests can do so 7 days before their trip, non-hotel guests can do so three days before their park day) can book one of the three, which then narrows down their choice to rope drop to just two of them.

While we’ve listed the 4 BEST rope drop options at EPCOT, we also want to warn you of one of the “worst” rides to rope drop: Spaceship Earth. Now, don’t get us wrong, we LOVE this iconic attraction; however, its proximity to the park’s main entrance leads to long wait times early in the morning. These times often fall throughout the day, sometimes reaching near walk-on status by the late afternoon or early evening.
