Disneyland Quietly Announces CLOSURE of Popular Ride

For all of you planning trips to Disneyland Resort this May, you potentially already have a list of rides and experiences you don’t want to miss out on.

Pirates of the Caribbean

There’s construction going around all over Disneyland Resort to make way for new experiences and pluss up existing ones, and now, there’s another closure that’s been added to the list. But when exactly it’s happening? Well, that’s a little hard to tell right now — here’s why.

Disneyland previously announced that Blue Bayou Restaurant, the dining spot connected to Pirates of the Caribbean, would be closing for refurbishment on May 4th, 2026, and would tentatively reopen in late May.

While a refurbishment notice does not officially appear on the ride’s page just yet, the Disneyland App reveals that, starting May 4th, Pirates of the Caribbean will ALSO be closed for refurbishment. The Disneyland webpage for Pirates of the Caribbean also lists “no times available” for the attraction starting on May 4th.

As of the latest updates to this post, the Disneyland calendar only goes out through May 24th and lists “no times available” for Pirates of the Caribbean from May 4th through that time. Since the page on the Disneyland website doesn’t have a note about the closure just yet (where it does for Blue Bayou), the exact timeline of this ride refurbishment is unclear.

The Blue Bayou webpage does note, however, that “Blue Bayou Restaurant will temporarily close for refurbishment on May 4, 2026, and is tentatively scheduled to reopen in late May. The restaurant will offer a modified dining experience while Pirates of the Caribbean is also under refurbishment, as views will be obstructed and Guests may hear some refurbishment noise.”

Look at that view!

Blue Bayou lists “no available times” from May 4th through May 20th. On May 21st, the restaurant begins to show available dining times again.

So, it seems likely that Pirates of the Caribbean will be closed for a longer period of time than the restaurant, especially since Blue Bayou notes a modified dining experience when it reopens. This is due to noise and obstructed views in the restaurant while the ride is refurbished.

We’ll be sure to keep a close eye on new information regarding this closure. This is one of the most popular rides in Disneyland Park, so having it closed, among many other attractions (such as the Disneyland Monorail and Jungle Cruise), won’t be great for crowds.
