Once upon a time, Rise of the Resistance at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios was the hardest ride to get on in ALL of Disney World.
From Virtual Queues to multi-hour waits (we’re talking five or six hours in line, people!), this first-of-its-kind ride has had quite the journey. Now that the hype has calmed down, it’s much easier to ride if you know when to get in line…and we do thanks to this wait time data!
So you want to ride Rise of the Resistance without paying extra and without waiting over an hour. It’s easier than you might think! Yes, there will be certain seasons where this is harder like spring break and around the holidays, but right now we spotted a 35-minute posted wait time at the Star Wars attraction in the morning and the evening.
Rope drop is still going to be your friend at Hollywood Studios. It seems most people headed toward Slinky Dog Dash since it posted a 70-minute wait at park opening. However, people waited half of that at the same time over at Rise of the Resistance.
In this case, if you’re buying Genie+, we recommend booking Slinky Dog Dash as your first Lightning Lane of the day since they tend to fill up quickly. Then rope drop Rise of the Resistance for a short wait without paying EXTRA money to ride! Now that you have Genie+, you can book it for several other attractions and avoid most of the high wait times in the park.
The other option based on recent wait times is waiting until the end of the night…however, that can be risky. Rise of the Resistance is known for breaking down and there have been multiple instances when it closes and never reopens for the day. This could happen to you, but may be worth the risk — we noticed the 35-minute wait time again at 8PM.

We were able to ride Rise at early open all by ourselves (family of 5) in early June. I was surprised since the line was fairly long already. It was so awesome to do all the pre-show with just our family!
