Heads up for cake fans in Disney World — there’s a new slice over at The Cake Bake Shop at the BoardWalk Inn that you’ve got to try right away!
The Cake Bake Shop always has a variety of slices of cake available, but sometimes, limited flavors pop up that are only around for a short time, and you don’t want to miss them. One of them just arrived at the shop, and we’re here to tell you that if you’re a caramel fan, it’ll be HEAVEN for you!
The new Southern Style Caramel Cake is available for $22 a slice, which is FAR from cheap (that’s a LOT to pay for one slice), but we usually keep these slices for special occasions.
Our reporter immediately said this may be their favorite cake they’ve ever had from here! The texture is a little different as it’s more of a crumb cake style, so it’s not going to be as moist, but we didn’t mind that. It has six layers of their housemade vanilla buttermilk cake, and it gives you great notes of both vanilla and maple as well as the caramel — it was SO good!
The caramel flavor makes it rich without being too heavy, and we think the difference in cake texture makes it unique in the best way. Honestly, we think everyone should give this a try!

IMO, this is ridiculous. I can certainly afford it, but I’d be ashamed for being so cavalier, especially considering so many people are struggling right now.
I can’t imagine paying $22 for a piece of cake. I can bake several caramel cakes for that amount and I’m sure mine are better!
People here are right, being forced to buy this cake is a unimaginable! Disney has no shame forcing this!
I would not pay 22$ for a piece of cake. I am not cheap by any means. I just wouldn’t feel right spending that kind of money on 1 piece of cake. We have starving people in this country. I just wouldn’t feel right. But, if anyone else would, I wouldn’t say a word. To each his own.
