We’ve flown pretty much every airline, and our travels have equipped us with plenty of tips that we can pass on to you! With the air travel industry and experience changing so rapidly, we want to share with you some Allegiant unspoken rules that could really aid you during your next flight!
Named the best low-cost airline in North America by customers at the World Airline Awards in 2024, Allegiant just might be the best budget airline experience you could ask for. With that said, it’s important to be aware of these three rules.
All passengers are allowed one personal item, but it cannot exceed 8 in. x 14 in. x 18 in. — and it must fit under the seat in front of you. You can purchase one carry-on bag per passenger, no bigger than 10 in. x 16 in. x 22 in.
Luggage
Keep in mind that you can check up to four 50-pound bags measuring no more than 8 linear inches.
Pay for Your Bags In Advance
That brings us to our next point. Checking bags at the airport with Allegiant is EXPENSIVE. Your best bet is to pay for them online in advance.
Luggage
There is no set price as they fluctuate based on time, date, and overage fees, but checking bags at the airport can cost up to $75 per bag. However, booking in advance carries fees for your first and second checked bags of up to $35 — half the cost. Even carry-on bags can range from $20 to $75.
In fact, when it comes to anything Allegiant, it’s best to book ahead. Seat selections will be cheaper ahead of time, as will printing your boarding pass, which can have a nominal fee at the airport.
Book Early Flights
As a budget airline, Allegiant offers a limited number of flights. If you’re looking to take advantage of lower TSA security lines (which admittedly should be moving faster now), emptier airports, and the lowest of low fares, try to fly in the morning.

Additionally, we’ve found that by flying in the morning, you give yourself more flexibility to catch a connecting flight or readjust if your flight is delayed or canceled.

Where are the second and third rules? The article only listed one “Be prepared to pack light.”
Be prepared to pay for water, no hot beverages are offered and food snacks are pricey. Also wear a jacket or a sweater, no blankets are available.
