4 Things I Wish I Knew Before Flying Allegiant Airlines to Disney World

A big decision to make when planning your Disney World trip is how are you going to get there? If the answer is by plane, then you still have another big decision to make.

What airline will you fly on? There are so many options for airlines, and it can feel a bit overwhelming to decide. You will want to consider the price, amenities, routes, and more.

Allegiant is a budget airline that offers cheap flights without any frills. It could definitely be a good option for getting to Disney World, but there are a few things we wish we had known before we used Allegiant.

You Get Charged Extra for EVERYTHING

Allegiant is a budget airline, so it is expected that just about anything will cost you extra. There are no free snacks on board, and if you want to bring anything other than one personal item, you will have to pay extra.

If you want to choose your seat, you will also pay extra. But that is not all. Allegiant will also charge you $5 if you want your boarding passes printed at the airport. Also, if you want to book your flights by phone it will cost you an extra $19.99 per person, per segment. A segment consists of “one takeoff and one landing.” So definitely stick to booking online if you choose to fly Allegiant!

Changing Your Flight Is Not Easy Peasy

Once you book your flights, don’t expect it to be easy to change or cancel your reservations. Unless you are willing to shell out some additional money to purchase Trip Flex (which costs $29-$43 per person per segment), you will be charged $25 per person per segment to change any portion of your flight itinerary. There is also no credit given if you change or cancel your flights within seven days of departure unless you have Trip Flex.

You can cancel your flight for a full refund if you cancel within 24 hours. Otherwise, you will only be given an Allegiant credit voucher if you cancel after 24 hours. Unless you have Trip Flex, emergencies or bereavement are not exceptions to the cancellation or change policy.

Bundles, Bundles, Bundles

Allegiant offers bundles that provide the most popular services for a discounted price. There are three different bundles available: Basic, Bonus, and Total. They offer a selection of services, including bringing a carry-on, getting a checked bag, choosing your seat, getting priority access, and having Trip Flex. If you purchase a bundle, you get the services for a discounted price.

However, it is important to note that bundles can ONLY be purchased at the time of booking. You won’t be able to add one on later. As well, bundles are non-refundable and can’t be unbundled.

The Seats Are NOT Comfortable. At All.

It is probably not a surprise as Allegiant is a budget airline, but the seats are very uncomfortable. You get what you pay for, and the seats are paper-thin. You will probably be feeling a bit stiff when you arrive at your destination, but you will have more money in your pockets to spend on other things!

While we wish we had known all these things before using Allegiant Airlines to fly to Orlando, Allegiant can still be a great option for cheap flights. Now that you know all these things, you will be able to make an even more informed decision about whether Allegiant is the right choice for you.
