Kilimanjaro Safaris May Look VERY Different the Next Time You Visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

We love Animal Kingdom for so many reasons, but one of our favorite attractions in the park is Kilimanjaro Safaris.

Kilimanjaro Safaris

You could ride the safari a hundred times and have a different ride every time. Why? Because they’re live animals, and they do live animal things! That means sometimes animals aren’t out because they need medical care; other times, they cause traffic jams when they don’t want to move out of the path (which, hey, it’s their home — they can do what they want!). If you love seeing the animals on every safari, we’ve got fantastic news — there are NEW friends to see the next time you go!

Disney has just welcomed THREE new lions to the savanna! Siblings Mshango, Zahara, and Neema joined the pride just weeks before Disney’s latest animated film, Mufasa, hit theaters.

In celebration of the film and of the lions’ arrival, Disney has relaunched the “Protect the Pride” conservation fund to “support the Wildlife Conservation Network’s Lion Recovery Fund (LRF) and LRF’s partners working across Africa to double the number of lions in the wild by 2050.”

We are so excited to see these new friends wandering around the savanna and look forward to seeing their playful spirits grow and develop as the months go on!

  1. Don’t get me wrong, I love the lions. But, if there are still 1 male and 2 female lions then how are we supposed to notice a difference?
