There are so many ways to make unique souvenirs in Disney World, and they’re all so much fun.
From getting a silhouette of your face cut out to customizing holiday ornaments to customizing ears, you can bring home Disney World souvenirs that are unique to you. So we bet you’re already familiar with the headbands that you can customize with characters, right? Well, if you’re more of a hat person, you can customize headgear at Disney World’s newest shop, Prairie Outpost & Supply, — and that’s just what we did.
You’ll find Prairie Outpost & Supply in Frontierland in Magic Kingdom. Here you’ll find top hats, visors, sun hats, ball caps, fascinators, berets, and more. The store even offers discounts for Annual Passholders, military at 10% and Magical Extras stays at the Disney Springs Resorts. Cast Member discounts are 15%. What’s really cool about this shop is that it offers a variety of accessories you can use to customize your hat and make it uniquely yours.
So we decided to do just that. First, you can choose a band for your hat if you want to add a pop of color or an additional design element. There are even some pretty embroidered bands to add.
So we chose a band and grabbed some accessories to add. There are pins, feathers, and so many other things to choose from. What makes these so cool, though, is that they’re magnetic, so you won’t be damaging the hat and you can switch them out if you want to change out the hat’s look.
We decided on a nice top hat for a steampunk kinda’ look. Then we added a pretty blue band and a Sorcerer Mickey hat pin.
We added even more magic — and bling — with this gorgeous bejeweled castle pin. We also chose a pretty blue feather.
Is this the Most Magical Hat on Earth? We would like to think so. Here’s what our hat looked like when we were done.
If you end up purchasing a hat, customized or not, you can request to pick it up later in the day (at least a half hour before the park closes) if you don’t want to carry it around all day and risk it getting damaged. Or you can just put it on your head and walk out of the shop to go about your day in Magic Kingdom in style.

Honestly, this custom hat shop, to me, is one of Disney’s dumber moves. Kind of like buying that big goody hat, wearing it in the park…then throwing it in the back of the closet once you’re home. (I do like the pins though!) I see this store closing in a year.
I would go there for a top hat and the Disney castle pin it’s so unique.
