Disney World transportation is kind of like its own attraction.

With boats, monorails, buses, and even gondolas, the system feels like a theme park in itself. And while most guests don’t realize it, there are some transportation hacks that feel like Disney should have shut down years ago, but they’re still totally available to use. Let’s get into the hacks we’re honestly shocked haven’t been banned yet.
Anyone Can Use Disney Transport
This one always surprises new visitors. Disney makes it sound like their free transportation is a benefit that’s exclusive to Disney hotel guests, but that’s not the case. You don’t need to be staying at a resort to ride the monorail, hop on a bus, take a Friendship Boat, or even soar across the Skyliner.

For example, if you’re finishing up a day at EPCOT and want to grab dinner over at the Polynesian, you can absolutely take the monorail without flashing a hotel room key. Or maybe you’re not even in the parks that day and just want to take a ride on the Skyliner to check out the views. No problem.

This is one of the most convenient perks on property and Disney hasn’t restricted it, which makes us wonder why they’ve never put tighter limits on who can ride.
Park at Disney Springs for Resort Hopping
If you’ve ever wanted to explore different Disney resorts, this hack is for you. Disney makes it pretty tough to park at resorts unless you’re staying there or have a dining reservation, but there’s a workaround: Disney Springs.

You can park at Disney Springs for free, hop on a bus, and head straight to the resort you want to check out. Want to grab a Tonga Toast breakfast at the Polynesian or explore the incredible lobby at Animal Kingdom Lodge? Disney Springs can get you there without the hassle of driving up to a resort gate and being turned away.

Now, it’s worth clarifying: this does NOT work as a way to get free theme park parking. Buses from Disney Springs do not go to the four parks, only to the resorts. Still, if you’re planning a resort-hopping day, this little trick can save you money and frustration. And Disney still hasn’t shut it down.
Bus from TTC to Magic Kingdom When Monorail or Ferry Are Down
On most days, if you’re parked at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), your two main options for getting to Magic Kingdom are the monorail or the ferryboat. But what if one (or both) are out of service? That’s when this hack comes into play.

Disney sometimes runs buses from the TTC straight to Magic Kingdom. We’ve even seen them do it on extra busy days to help manage crowds. The bus stop is right at the Magic Kingdom entrance, and the ride only takes about five minutes. In fact, it can often be quicker than waiting in those long ferry or monorail lines at the end of the night.

Not everyone knows about this option, which is why we’re surprised Disney hasn’t promoted it more or restricted it somehow. When it’s available, we always recommend taking advantage of it.
Use the Resort Monorail at Peak Times
At rope drop or park closing, the monorail lines can look like they’re never-ending. Most guests flock to the express monorail that runs directly between the TTC and Magic Kingdom, but here’s the hack: the resort monorail.

Even if you’re not staying at the Contemporary, Polynesian, or Grand Floridian, you’re free to ride the resort loop. And during busy times, this line can actually move faster than the express one. Sure, it makes a few extra stops, but it also ends at the TTC, just like the express does.

This little switch has saved us tons of time leaving Magic Kingdom at night. The fact that anyone can use the resort loop makes it a game-changer, and yet Disney has never banned it.
Take the Friendship Boats
One of the most underutilized transportation options at Disney World is the Friendship Boats. These boats don’t just float around EPCOT’s World Showcase — they also connect EPCOT and Hollywood Studios with several resorts along the way, including the BoardWalk, Yacht and Beach Club, and Swan and Dolphin.

For some guests, these boats can be more relaxing and scenic than the Skyliner. They may take a little longer, but they drop you off right outside the park gates. It’s hard to believe that Disney still allows anyone to hop aboard, even if you’re just there to enjoy a ride on the water. If you’ve never tried them before, we highly recommend it.

Disney transportation is such a huge part of the experience, and these hacks make it even better. Whether you’re hopping resorts, skipping a long monorail line, or just cruising on a Friendship Boat, these little tricks feel like secrets that shouldn’t be allowed, but they are.

This Disney World Hotel Hack May Surprise You, But It’s Totally Allowed!
Which of these hacks have you used before, and do you think Disney will ever actually ban them? Let us know in the comments below.

I would be willing to bet that there are a significant number of people who will park in the Lime Garage, hop the first resort bus that comes along, then bus from that resort to Magic Kingdom for the Halloween/Christmas parties. It’s not fast, but it IS free!
The Friendship Boats are a good option when you want a break, but they’re no faster than walking (yes, my wife and I tested this several years ago). Plus, the “fresh air” outdoor seating at the back tends to reek of diesel fumes. For DHS Epcot, the Skyliner is much faster, unless the queue is ridiculous.
