These Disney’s Hollywood Studios Crowds Are NOT for the Weak!

It’s May the 4th, and while for many people, that wouldn’t mean anything other than that it’s a Monday, today is a BIG day in Disney World and for all Star Wars fans.

Long line in Galaxy’s Edge

May the 4th is known as Star Wars Day, thanks to the iconic phrase “May the Force be with you,” and how it sounds similar to “May the 4th be with you.” Today in the parks, guests have been able to check out special merchandise, snacks, and so much more, but it hasn’t come without some HEAVY crowds.

When we entered the park right around rope drop this morning, it didn’t take us as long as we had thought to get into the park, which we took as a good sign.

However, that all changes as we got closer and closer to Galaxy’s Edge — yep, THAT’S when we spotted the crowds! If you’ve been to Galaxy’s Edge before, you know that, with the exception of some bottleneck spots, it’s pretty open. So, when we saw that crowds looked like this? Yeah, we knew things were about to be busy!

YIKES!

We spotted a pretty wild line for Dok Ondar’s Den of Antiquities right around 9 AM (yes, THAT early), and Disney had a feeling their special merchandise would be so popular, so they put a Virtual Queue in place for both Hollywood Studios AND Disney Springs. Before 9:30 AM, the Hollywood Studios queue had totally filled up, and we watched as it moved at a snail’s pace for the rest of the day.

We also noticed that early in the day, before 9:30 AM, Kat Saka’s Kettle seemed to run out of the Jabba’s Sail Barge Bucket. Fortunately, they DID get it back later via Mobile Order, but we were nervous — that was EARLY to run out of such a hot item!

As the day went on, we noticed crowds were still pretty intense throughout the morning and early afternoon — just look at this! Characters drew huge lines throughout the land. Who doesn’t want a photo with The Mandalorian on May the 4th?!

If you’re heading into the park on a day like this, it’s best to pack your patience and prepare to wait for a while. This is also why we update you on what’s happening in the parks at all times — that way, even if you’re not in the parks for this event, you know what’s happening!

It was an intense day

However, as the day went on and we got into the mid to late afternoon, we did notice that crowds seemed to thin a bit. Not by too much, it was still wildly busy, but it wasn’t as shoulder-to-shoulder as before.
