Heading to Disney World for vacation and wondering how housekeeping is going to work at your hotel? We’re here to break it down.

In Disney World, this service is often affectionately known as Mousekeeping, and if you’re staying a couple nights, you should experience it at least once during your trip. But what does housekeeping include? And how often does it happen? Let’s break it down.
How Often They’ll Service Your Room
If you’re staying at a Value Resort or Moderate Resort, you’ll receive housekeeping services every other day. Rooms at Deluxe Resorts will be serviced every day.

The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort — a Disney Vacation Club Resort will receive service every other day. Other Disney Vacation Club villas and studios will receive daily service, if booked with a cash rate.

The exception to those properties comes if you’re a Disney Vacation Club Member staying at a Disney Vacation Club Resort using Member Points or a Member Cash Discount. In that case, you’ll receive trash and towel service on the fourth day of your visit. If your stay is longer than eight nights, you’ll get housekeeping service on the fourth day and towel and trash service on the eighth day.

What Housekeeping Will Do
The housekeeping service in Disney World is fairly straightforward and traditional. You can expect your housekeeper to make the bed, replace towels, refill toiletries, and empty the trash during their visit.

They’ll also do basic cleaning of the bathroom and the common spaces, both for tidiness and for health.

Other Important Notes
There are a few other things that are important to know about housekeeping, per the rules on the Disney World website. You can decline housekeeping at any point during your stay by speaking with a Cast Member directly or placing the “Room Occupied” sign on your door.

However, it’s important to note that Disney Resorts due mandatory room checks once every 24 hours for safety reasons. So even if you decline service, someone from the hotel staff will enter your room once per day. If you don’t want housekeeping, it’s only a short check to make sure all is well.

If you need any additional housekeeping amenities or have special requests related to housekeeping, you can make those requests at your hotel’s front desk, or by dialing housekeeping directly from the phone in your hotel room.

Also, now that Hey Disney! is offered across Disney World Resorts, you can use the Alexa product to request more stock of certain items, like pillows, towels, or toiletries. That’s so handy!

So don’t worry, even though housekeeping is a bit different now than it used to be, you can still have the relaxing, clean hotel room when you get back from the parks. And if you have any special needs or requests, don’t forget to speak with a Cast Member at the front desk!
