Monsters Inc Land in Hollywood Studios

Disney announced that a brand new land is coming to Hollywood Studios, and it’s themed to Monsters, Inc.! During the 2024 D23 Disney Experiences showcase, it was announced that the new land will pick up after the events of the original movie, and you’ll even be able to visit the iconic factory itself.

But that’s not all! “The first time I saw Monsters, Inc., all I wanted to do was ride on one of those doors like Mike and Sulley,” Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro told the crowd. “You’ll go into the factory and experience the first suspended coaster ever in a Disney park. Remember in the movie how those claws grab the doors and hoist them up into the air to take them away? We’re doing that, too. And you’re going along for the ride.”

ATTRACTIONS and ENTERTAINMENT

The Monsters, Inc. door coaster attraction will be Disney World’s first suspended coaster. You’ll go into the factory and experience the first suspended coaster ever in a Disney park. When Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro announced the ride, he said, “Remember in the movie how those claws grab the doors and hoist them up into the air to take them away? We’re doing that, too. And you’re going along for the ride.”

During the 2025 SXSW Festival, Disney revealed new information about the coaster, confirming it will feature a vertical lift that will see guests “board the vehicle before being hoisted into the air (just like in the movie!) to zoom into the door vault.”

Another of the land’s attractions is The Glob Theater. It’s featured in concept art as the spot replacing Muppet*Vision 3D, but Disney hasn’t announced what will be inside. A theater show? A meet-and-greet? We’ll have to wait and find out!

PLACES TO EAT

The concept art had teased it quite a bit, but now, Disney has officially announced that Harryhausen’s will be coming to Monstropolis in Hollywood Studios! This is the Japanese restaurant that Mike takes Celia to for her birthday in the film.

We can’t wait for Disney to reveal even more details about the land because it seems to be coming along quickly despite not having an opening timeline yet. We’re hoping for some more information or even an opening timeline during Disney’s D23 Expo in August 2026.
