The holidays and the crowds are here at Disney World!
This time of year is an exciting time to take a trip. Guests love going to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party — which is now SOLD OUT. There is a new firework show at EPCOT, Luminous the Symphony of Us, that you can now experience. Of course, there are all the holiday decorations and gingerbread houses scattered around Disney World too. However, with all of these big things, that means more people are in the parks and the wait times are proving that.
We’ve been seeing an increase in wait times since the holiday season has begun. We’ve seen steady waits for big attractions like Slinky Dog Dash, Frozen Ever After, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train reach times over 90 minutes.
However, yesterday there was one attraction that caught our eye. On December 7th, Rise of the Resistance reached — brace yourself — a 190-minute wait! Over 3 hours to wait in line for the popular Star Wars attraction.
Now, the wait times did rise and fall throughout the day. The lowest time we saw was at 9 AM for 35 minutes with 9 PM being just 45 minutes. However, at 10 AM and 4 PM, it was a 110-minute wait with it peaking at 190 minutes at 2 PM.
There are a few ways to avoid these high wait times. First, you can purchase an Individual Lightning Lane which can be around $22 per person, but the price varies depending on the day. Now if you have a small party, that might be worth it.
However, if you have a large party or want to save that money for other items, we suggest rope-dropping this attraction. While there will be others heading there first thing, the waits are usually significantly lower than 190 minutes. If you aren’t a morning person or you are park hopping to Studios after 2 PM, head there right around park close. You can still join the lineup until a minute before the park closes.
