This Is Why You Should Be Careful When You Rope Drop Magic Kingdom

You’ve probably heard people (including us!) tell you to “rope drop” Magic Kingdom — to get there right when, or slightly before, the park opens so you can take advantage of lower wait times.  But, it’s not always foolproof! Sometimes, attractions may be temporarily closed first thing in the morning due to unforeseen circumstances.

While they typically open up a short time later (unless something more serious is going on), it can still be disappointing if you’re hoping to start your day off right. At Magic Kingdom recently, three of the most popular rides were closed until a couple of hours after the park had already opened!

If you don’t want to rope drop, you can also take advantage of things like Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours, depending on which Disney hotel you’re staying at. These offerings allow hotel guests to enjoy a little extra time in the parks before everyone else arrives.

And, you can always take advantage of Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Single Pass (and now, Premier Pass)! These are skip-the-line services that allow you to bypass the standby lines at popular Disney World rides. You can read all about Lightning Lanes here.
