To say it’s been a wild weekend for Disney fans would be an understatement.
We just got back from D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event where Disney announced so many projects to be excited about!​ Not only is Magic Kingdom getting a huge addition with the Villains land and Cars area, but we also have more details on what will replace DinoLand USA in Disney’s Animal Kingdom (and when). But did it impact wait times in the park at all? Let’s find out!
Unfortunately, our time with DinoLand is coming to an end. The new land called Pueblo Esperanza will feature attractions based on Indiana Jones and Encanto. Construction is set to begin in phases as early as this fall…although it’s not clear when certain things will close just yet. With this uncertainty, that means people probably flocked to Dinosaur, as it may be one of the last times they’ll get to ride it, right? WRONG.
The announcements were revealed on the evening of Saturday, August 10th, and we’re taking a look at the wait times in Disney World from Sunday, August 11th. Overall, we did not see any significant change in Dinosaur wait times — surprisingly, the average actually decreased quite a bit.
Here’s a look at the averages from the past few days:
- Average wait time for Dinosaur on August 9th: 31.4 minutes
- Average wait time for Dinosaur on August 10th: 25.9 minutes
- Average wait time for Dinosaur on August 11th: 23.2 minutes
This is different than when Disney made announcements in 2023 confirming DinoLand would eventually be replaced. When looking at wait time data back then, we noticed the times went up on average the week after those announcements. Maybe it’s old news or maybe people have already come to terms with the fact that DinoLand is going away soon!
This can also change throughout the week as people probably had their plans locked for August 11th by the time this news dropped. We’ll keep an eye on the wait times and let you know of any significant changes!

With the Dinosaur attraction being demolished… I wonder if on a rainy day at Disney Animal Kingdom just how many rides will be temporary closed ? I count 5 experiences out of commission due to inclement weather..leaving (3) available. The Avatar rides and the bug is all that remains…is it worth it ?
