California sits in a very geologically active area and is prone to earthquakes.
Earthquakes can happen in California, and therefore in Disneyland, at any time. We recently learned that an earthquake hit the Los Angeles area, including Orange County where Disneyland is located.
According to KTLA on X, a 4.6 magnitude earthquake struck the Los Angeles area, and it was felt in Anaheim.
One of our reporters, who was not in parks at the time of the earthquake felt it in Anaheim, but another reporter who was in the parks said they did not notice it. However, Disney did shut down rides shortly after the earthquake occurred, though we’re not positive that this was because of the earthquake.
Even if you don’t feel an earthquake in Disneyland, they may shut down the rides in case of aftershocks that can occur after the initial earthquake. If you happen to be in the parks during an earthquake take the necessary precautions to stay safe and know that it may be a while until the rides re-open.
