The Best Time To Ride Disney World’s Most Popular Rides Isn’t When You Think

So you’ve made it to Disney World, and you’re trying to figure out your best strategy for hitting your ride priority list. Of course, that might all depend on ride wait times, and believe it or not, WHEN you ride an attraction makes a difference.

If you’ve followed us for a while, you’ve probably seen that we keep an eye on ride wait times EVERY DAY in Disney World, so we’re constantly looking for trends to help you with your ride planning. Well, we just noticed a new trend that could get you on Disney World’s most popular rides a lot faster.

So we’re noticing something that could save you a lot of time in Disney World. Now, we’ve stressed the importance of rope drop before, although some might say that’s an outdated strategy. Well, we still think rope droppers get an advantage. That’s because two of the most popular rides in Disney World have low wait times right when the parks open.

Yesterday, Rise of the Resistance in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a ride that often has hour-long wait times or more, had a wait time of just 30 minutes at rope drop. Now, granted, another great time to ride this ride is before park close (and it was only 15 minutes yesterday at that time). But rope drop generally brings shorter waits for ALL rides.

However, another popular ride also had a shorter wait time at rope drop. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT has multi-hour wait times on many days, but if you were at rope drop yesterday morning, the wait was only 40 minutes. If you waited until the end of the day, that wait was a whopping 180 minutes.
