Did This New TRON Ride Change Trigger an Unexpected Magic Kingdom Crowd Trend?

When you’re planning a trip to Disney World, it’s a good idea to check on the latest wait time trends so you know what to expect.

Magic Kingdom

We study the average ride wait times in Disney World and report on all the current trends! That way, you can be prepared for your next vacation.  So, now that September is half way done, what do the average ride waits look like? Should we be worried or relieved? Let’s find out!

Let’s take a look at this past week’s average wait times.

Disney Vacation Planner

After a few weeks of comparatively low wait times, Disney World rebounded in a BIG way, led by an increase in the Flight of Passage wait time, a new standby queue TRON Lightcycle / Run, and a busy Hollywood Studios.

Walt Disney World

Let’s take a look at the Disney World wait times from September 13th through September 20th, 2024.

Magic Kingdom

Below is the average weekly wait time for each ride, from shortest to longest wait time.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

We need to talk about TRON: Lightcycle / Run. The attraction was the park’s busiest ride, and now it has had its first full week with a traditional standby queue. Overall, it seemed like Magic Kingdom was a little busier than it has been the past few weeks. Is the new TRON standby queue to blame?

(REMINDER: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is currently only available with a virtual queue.)

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Read the list below to see the averages of the Hollywood Studios ride wait times, from low to high.

Slinky Dog Dash

Hollywood Studios’ major rides were slammed this week, as every one of the park’s popular attractions saw large wait time increases.

EPCOT

See the average EPCOT attraction wait times from the week below.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

The wait times in EPCOT  jumped up slightly this week, too. Overall, it seems like Disney World crowds are picking up right now. (NOTE: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind does not currently use a standby queue, so it’s not included here.)

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The average wait times for Animal Kingdom’s attractions are listed below.

Cute!

Animal Kingdom’s Flight of Passage came back in a HUGE way. After two weeks of (comparatively) low wait times, Animal Kingdom’s Avatar rides saw their wait times increase by almost 20 minutes.

  1. For multipass:Does it make sense to ‘check out’ with your number 1 lightning lane selection immediately to get the best possible time (then come back after to add two more) rather than add two more and potentially have these tier twos in the better slots (aka earlier in the day)

    1. Hi Caitlin! You have five minutes to make your selections so any available times that you see will still be available at the checkout point so you won’t need to grab those Tier 1s and check out immediately. There will be time to make all of your selections. We do recommend starting with your furthest day out for better choices, however.
