When you go into the Disney World parks, you may think you have ALL day to do everything…but that’s not the case for some attractions!
Sometimes attractions close early for random reasons and sometimes attractions are scheduled to close earlier than the park. That’s true for one of the most popular rides in Animal Kingdom and this is your official reminder so you won’t be disappointed on your next trip!
The ride in question is Kilimanjaro Safaris! Yes, the ride that takes you through a safari closes earlier than Animal Kingdom does. Why?
The answer is simple — it gets too dark! We know, a nighttime safari sounds awesome. But ultimately, this happens for the safety of the visitors and the animals. At times of year when the sun sets earlier, the ride will also close earlier.
Daylight savings time starts on March 10th, so we may see some changes to this ride’s schedule then. Check the My Disney Experience app on your trip for the most up-to-date times!

They did have a “twilight” safari for a little bit if you remember, I thought to coincide with the park staying open later for the Rivers of Light. They added lights in the Savanah and the vehicles would shine spotlights. I filmed it one time. Worst Safari recording I have.
Yes, it was dark and hard to see animals, and animals do not seem to like the spotlight pointed at them.
