Yes, People Waited Over 3 Hours for Just ONE RIDE in Disney World Yesterday

We’re still in the middle of the Spring Break travel season in Disney World, and the crowds haven’t totally let up yet.

There are still thousands more people potentially headed to Orlando — many of whom may visit the Disney theme parks, so if you’re going to be one of them, be sure to pack your patience. Want some of our best tips for skipping the LONGEST of lines? Read on!

One thing you can do to avoid the longest lines is to be at the parks for rope drop. Yes, that means getting up early on vacation, but it could save you a lot of time in the long run. If you’re staying at a Disney World resort, you can also take advantage of Early Theme Park Entry, which allows you into the parks to get on select rides 30 minutes earlier than the official park opening time.

If you’re staying at select Disney World resorts (Deluxe Resorts, Deluxe Villas, and select other spots), you’ll also have the option to enjoy Extended Evening Hours in the parks, which gives you an extra few hours in a specific park each week (right now, Extended Evening Hours are only offered on select dates for Magic Kingdom and EPCOT).

Another thing you can do to skip some of the lines is purchase Genie+ for you and your group so you can skip the standby lines and access rides’ Lightning Lanes. It can get pricey, but if you want to spend less time in lines, that might be the best option for you.

You can also purchase the Individual Lightning Lane option for those rides that offer it (this is the pay-per-ride option for Lightning Lanes at rides that aren’t included with Genie+).

And you might just want that option with some of the waits we’ve seen recently. On March 30th, the wait for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance got all the way up to 210 minutes — that’s OVER 3 hours. Your other option is to time your visits to certain rides carefully. For example, Rise of the Resistance had just a 65-minute wait at one point and a 75-minute wait at another time, so knowing when to visit a ride (later in the day vs. earlier) can also help!
