How ONE Ride Closure Can Throw Off Your Entire Day at Disney's Hollywood Studios

We talk about ride closures a lot…but that’s because it is bound to affect everyone who visits Disney World at some point.

Unfortunately, not everything in the parks is perfect, and rides often close due to many factors like technical difficulties, weather, etc. These closures can throw off your entire day especially when it is a popular ride that many parkgoers want to ride that day. We noticed that’s what happened on Sunday, December 10th, when we took a look at the wait times.

Over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, few rides (if any) are more popular than Rise of the Resistance in Galaxy’s Edge. This was a groundbreaking attraction when it first opened and still draws some of the biggest crowds in all of Disney World.

That’s why when the ride was closed all morning, the wait times spiked in the afternoon. Eventually, the line hit a 240-minute wait time!

If this happens on your Hollywood Studios day, there are a few things you should know:

If you purchased an Individual Lightning Lane for Rise of the Resistance, you’ll get an “experience redemption,” which is essentially a boarding pass that lets you ride that attraction at any time of the day after it reopens.
If you planned to rope drop Rise of the Resistance but it is closed when you get there, we recommend rerouting to Slinky Dog Dash in Toy Story Land. The next best option is Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run as that is the closest ride to Rise of the Resistance.
