It’s been a BUSY week in Disney World, with holiday crowds descending on all four theme parks. It was so busy, in fact, that several rides had multi-hour-long wait times yesterday.
Let’s check out the Disney World ride wait times from yesterday, December 31st, to see which rides were packed, which attractions temporarily closed, and what kinds of trends we can discover from the stats.
Several attractions temporarily closed in Disney World yesterday, some for a few hours. A few rides that went down include Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Magic Kingdom), Pirates of the Caribbean (Magic Kingdom), Frozen Ever After (EPCOT), Living With the Land (EPCOT), Expedition Everest (Disney’s Animal Kingdom), Kali River Rapids (Animal Kingdom), Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway (Disney’s Hollywood Studios), and Tower of Terror (Hollywood Studios). It was a ROUGH day for ride closures!
With the heavy holiday crowds and several ride closures, we saw very high wait times for some rides. For example, Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdom got up to 160 minutes at one point, around 2PM. This wasn’t the case most of the day, although wait times for Haunted Mansion did stay above 100 minutes for a few hours.
Other rides that had wait times of three hours or longer at some point in the day include Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Avatar Flight of Passage (which actually got up to about four hours), and Slinky Dog Dash.
If you’re in Disney World or planning to go soon, you may want to consider purchasing Genie+ so that you can reserve Lightning Lanes and skip these long standby lines.
You can also use Rope Drop by getting to the parks early (before they open) and heading to your favorite rides first thing, before they get too busy. We also sometimes see ride wait times drop in the evenings, just before parks close!
