Deciding when to get in line for your favorite Disney World ride can be a tricky choice. Should you rope drop and get in line at the very beginning of the day, when lines can be long? Or, should you wait until lunch or parade times, when fewer people are in line?
You might think that waiting until the end of the night is a safe bet, but the ride could go down temporarily, leaving you out of luck. That’s exactly what happened with Slinky Dog Dash at Hollywood Studios yesterday!
Our top tips for avoiding long lines without spending any extra money are to rope drop the parks (get there right when — or before — they open), get in line during meal times or parades and fireworks, or wait until people start leaving for the night!
You can also take advantage of things like Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours, depending on which Disney hotel you’re staying at. These offerings allow hotel guests to get a little extra time in the parks before everyone else gets there.
And, you can always take advantage of Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Single Pass (and the new Premier Pass!) These are skip-the-line services that allow you to bypass the standby lines at popular Disney World rides. Disney recently switched over to this system instead of the previous Genie+.
