Slinky Dog Dash Saw a 28.1% Drop in Wait Times This Week at Disney World, and We Know WHY

When you’re planning a trip to Disney World, it’s a good idea to check on the latest wait time trends so you know what to expect. This past week saw something unprecedented.

Whoo hoo!

The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster returned to Walt Disney World after a long refurbishment, which threw Hollywood Studios’ wait times into upheaval this week, including slashing the wait times of Slinky Dog Dash, last week’s busiest ride by the average wait.

Let’s take a look at this past week’s average wait times.

Disney Vacation Planner

Magic Kingdom

Here are the average weekly wait times for each ride below, from shortest to longest wait time:

(NOTE: Since Tron Lightcycle/Run and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure do not use standby lines, we have not included them here)

Peter Pan’s Flight

Wait times at the Magic Kingdom stayed relatively staid this week, with only slight variations around the park. The real test for this park will come next week when people-eater and ever-popular Peter Pan’s Flight is closed for a month-long refurbishment project.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Read the list below to see the Hollywood Studios ride wait times averages, from low to high:

It’s OPEN!

As mentioned above,  Hollywood Studios saw one of its marquee attractions — Rock ‘n Roller Coaster — reopen after a long closure this week, and it had a large impact on the park’s wait times. Slinky Dog Dash and Rise of the Resistance both fell precipitously as the Aerosmith coaster drew large crowds.

EPCOT

(NOTE: Since Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind does not use a standby line, we have not included it here)

Spaceship Earth

EPCOT’s wait time champion was still Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure this week, but the ride did see a decent drop, falling under 60 minutes.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The average wait times for Animal Kingdom’s attractions are listed below:

Expedition Everest

Flight of Passage dropped 9 minutes this week, bringing it down to just OVER 80 minutes. That’s… progress?
