The Major PROBLEM You Must Prepare for in Disney World

There’s a major problem that could catch you off guard and totally RUIN your Disney World plans.

No, it’s not the technical issues that can impact Disney’s apps, long lines, or even certain items selling out in the parks. It’s another issue entirely and it’s one you need to be prepared for.

The Problem

The problem we’re talking about is…unexpected ride closures! In fact, on January 15th, over 10 rides unexpectedly CLOSED at one point or another.

Rides can close at Disney World suddenly for a multitude of reasons including weather concerns, technical issues, or other problems.

You might be in line when a ride suddenly goes down, or you could be on the ride itself or elsewhere in the park hoping to get on that ride. You cannot really predict when these closures will happen, so what should you do to prepare for the unexpected? Well, a few things.

First, keep a close eye on the My Disney Experience app. If a ride shows that it is “temporarily closed” then you’ll know that it is down for the moment. That can save you critical amounts of time (and heartache) so you know about the closure before you trek all the way across the park in the hopes of getting on the ride.

The app will also display a wait time for the ride once it has reopened, letting you know that it’s time to hop on over and get in line!

Second, you can visit the outside of the ride and see if a Cast Member in the area has more information about what has caused the closure and when the ride is expected to reopen.

Third, when you enter the park, try to prioritize those rides that are MUST-DOs first. If the ride later has an unexpected closure, you’ll be glad that you made it a top priority and got on it before the closure took place.

And finally, try, as much as you can, to build flexibility into your schedule. If a ride closes, then your flexible plan will allow you to shift to another ride or experience quickly and give you time to “add back in” that other ride once it reopens. You can even come up with fun alternatives to reward little ones for handling an unexpected closure well.
