Why Getting Up Early is SO Important for Your Disney World Trip

In August and early September, Disney World wait times remained relatively low and we even saw some of the most popular rides with wait times as little as 10-15 minutes.

Late September has seen a few changes when it comes to wait times, but it’s nothing like the crowds we saw this summer. Let’s take a look at those times now to give you an idea of how LONG you’ll have to wait in the parks.

Before we get to the wait times, let’s go through some strategies to help you SKIP the lines. Your best option for riding some of Disney’s most popular rides (while avoiding the long lines) might be to purchase Genie+ and the Individual Lightning Lane option for the rides that have it. These services can save you a LOT of time.

But, there are other ways to skip the lines too. If you manage to get to the parks early, you could knock out a lot of rides quickly without Genie+. We saw a number of rides with low wait times in the early morning hours on September 20th. Only 10 minutes for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in Magic Kingdom? Yes, please! By 10AM this ride was already at a 50 minute wait (though that did drop a bit later), but those who got in earlier had the chance to hop on the ride with minimal waits.

You can also consider using Early Theme Park Entry (if you qualify) to get into the parks even EARLIER than the regular crowds. Early Theme Park Entry is a perk that’s available to all Disney World hotel guests (and those at select other hotels).

But, it’s complicated. Some rides had short lines in the morning, got busier, and then had lower wait times later in the day. Other rides did keep relatively low wait times throughout the day. It truly depends on the ride, the park, the day, and other circumstances that could impact things. Things can really vary so the key is to keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app and keep those plans flexible so you can make changes as necessary to maximize your time.
