You’re on your way to travel the world and go to outer space all in one day? If you’re heading to EPCOT, you want to read this first!

There are a few different types of Disney World transportation guests can take to get to EPCOT — the Skyliner, a Disney bus, a boat, or the monorail. One of our favorite methods is the monorail, but there are a few things you’ll want to know before hopping on one to EPCOT.
1. Not All Monorails Go to EPCOT
Disney World has multiple monorail lines, and only one of them goes to EPCOT. At the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), you’ll find signs for both the Magic Kingdom loop and the EPCOT line, but the EPCOT one is a little tucked off to the right. It’s easy to miss if you’re in a hurry or following the crowd. And if you’re traveling from Magic Kingdom to EPCOT, you must switch monorails at the TTC. A lot of first-time guests don’t realize this, which can lead to some confusion (and backtracking).

2. The Ride Takes Longer Than You’d Think
Unlike the quick resort loop, the EPCOT monorail is a much longer journey. It can take anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes, depending on how quickly a monorail arrives, how long the line is, and the speed of the ride itself. It’s more of a scenic route than a quick hop, so if you’ve got a dining reservation or Lightning Lane window, make sure to factor in that extra travel time.

3. You’ll Get a Sneak Peek of EPCOT
One of the best parts of this ride is that it actually takes you into EPCOT before dropping you off at the station. The monorail glides right past Spaceship Earth, loops around World Celebration, and gives you an incredible aerial view of the park. It feels like a bonus attraction all on its own, and it’s the perfect chance to snap a photo or just soak in the anticipation of your EPCOT day.

4. Delays Happen — So Plan Ahead
While the monorail is iconic and usually reliable, it’s not immune to delays. Mechanical issues, weather, or general downtime can sometimes bring the system to a temporary stop. It doesn’t happen constantly, but it’s frequent enough that it’s worth keeping in mind. If you’re on a tight schedule, have a backup plan, whether that’s a bus, Skyliner, or even a rideshare. A little flexibility can save you from frustration if your monorail plans hit a snag.

We hope this helps you on your next trip on the monorail! For more Disney World tips, be sure to follow AllEars.net.
