The NEW Disney World Afternoon Ticket Changes Everything — Here's Your Game Plan

Disney is finally bringing back a popular afternoon ticket option for the first time in years, and it could be an absolute game-changer for your Summer 2026 Disney World trip!

Disney is offering a new Afternoon Ticket option that offers a specially priced ticket that provides admission to one theme park each day, after 2 PM. The tickets, available in 2-day and 3-day tickets, have a limit of one theme park per day. These date-based tickets offer valid start dates from May 26th to July 29th. The 2-day ticket (which begins at $118 per day) must be used within 4 days of the selected start date, while the 3-day ticket (which begins at $116 per day) must be used within 5 days of the selected start date.

So, if you pick up one of these Disney World Afternoon tickets, how should you break up your day? Well, let’s begin BEFORE you head to your park of choice.

The Morning

If you’re not heading to a Disney park until 2:00 PM, there are a few ways you can choose to spend your morning:

You Can Sleep In: Type-A personality types may not go for this one, but you can sleep in late. Spend some time in the hotel room bed as opposed to treating it like a quick pit stop between park visits.

You Can Spend Time by the Hotel Pool: If you want to do something a bit more strenuous than sleeping in, but still in the vein of relaxation, how about spending some time at your hotel pool? Whether staying at a Disney World hotel or somewhere off property, you can take in some sun and enjoy an early morning swim before heading to the park in the afternoon.

You Can Enjoy Breakfast: Of course, you don’t need to relax at your hotel unless you want to. Instead, you can take the opportunity to have a meal outside of the theme parks. Perhaps enjoy a character breakfast at a hotel restaurant like Chef Mickey’s or Topolino’s before heading to the Magic Kingdom or EPCOT, respectively. Or head over to Disney Springs for a morning meal at one of the complex’s restaurants, before hopping on a bus to any of Disney World’s theme parks.

So, once you’re done with the morning and heading to your park of choice, how should your day play out? Well, that depends on which park you’re heading to.

Magic Kingdom

If you’re heading to the “Most Magical Place on Earth” for the afternoon, you’ll definitely have time to squeeze in some rides as the park that has the most of any of Walt Disney World’s four, but your main focus will likely be the park’s nighttime spectaculars: The Starlight: Dream the Night Away Parade…

EPCOT

If you’re heading to EPCOT after 2:00 PM, your main focus should probably be on the World Showcase. With enough planning time — 60 days in advance — you can make a dining reservation at one of the park’s best restaurants — Chefs de France, Le Cellier, or the San Angel Inn — to name a few, then settle in to watch Luminous: The Symphony of Us… with a treat, of course.

In recent years, Hollywood Studios has been defined by its attractions, and heading over in the afternoon this summer will give you the chance to experience the park’s newest attractions, the new Muppet-rethemed Rock ’n’ Roller (opening May 26th) and the Mandalorian and Grogu-infused Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run (opening May 22nd). Plus, who can resist The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at dusk?

Animal Kingdom

The value of the Afternoon Ticket at Animal Kingdom can be a bit of a toss-up. On the one hand, the park is often most crowded in the morning, somewhat emptying by the early afternoon. Meaning that an afternoon ticket should offer more than enough time to ride most — if not all — of the park’s currently-construction-limited roster of attractions.

However, on the other hand, Animal Kingdom has the earliest scheduled closing time of any of Walt Disney World’s theme parks, so the Afternoon Ticket offers fewer hours in the park than any of the others. However, there is a way to spend more time in Animal Kingdom and Disney’s other theme parks… IF you’re staying at the right hotel.

Guests at Deluxe Tier Walt Disney World hotels can enjoy Extended Evening Hours. Offered at select Walt Disney World theme parks on select nights, these guests have the opportunity to stay in the park an extra two hours after it closes to the general public. If you’re eligible for Extended Evening Hours, you could pair the perk with an Afternoon Ticket and get close to a full operating day’s worth of park time.
