It might be a little early, but we are HYPED for spooky season in Disney World. Let’s GOOOOOO!

In 2026, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party kicks off on August 7th and runs on select nights through October 31st. Tickets are available for purchase to all guests on May 12th, but before you get them, we’re here to warn you which night to AVOID.
Listen friends, I know it sounds like fun to be among the first to celebrate Halloween in Disney World, but I’m going to warn you right now — do NOT go to the first night of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. You can even go the first week of the party if you’d like, but that first night on August 7th is an entirely different beast.

So what’s going on that first night? Well, what ISN’T?! Let’s start with the fact that because it’s the first night of the season, there are often some snafus that need to be worked out. If Disney adds any new entertainment or any changes to operations, things can be a bit rough and slow on the first night of the party as they work out how things will actually go with a crowd. We’ve seen this time and time again.

Speaking of changes, sometimes Disney makes changes to the party that you won’t know about until after you see them on social media. In recent years, we’ve seen several “surprise and delight” character appearances like the Hitchhiking Ghosts or the Disney Villains added to the treat stops. If you’re there on the first night and you don’t visit all the locations at the right times, you might miss out.

But someone is bound to spot those fun surprises on night one and post them online (it’ll probably be us here at AllEars, because we have an entire team of people hitting the first night of the party!). Then, you can save that video or bookmark that blog post and know what to be on the lookout for.

In a similar vein, there are new snacks for the party each year, and here, we like to review many of them on night one. Allow me to assure you…not all of them are winners. If you come here after the first night of the party and read our snack reviews or watch our YouTube video, you’ll be able to know which treats are must-tries so you don’t waste your hard-earned money.

Of course, one of the biggest things we’ve got to warn you about are the opening night crowds. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a bit busier than the After Hours events in Disney World, so you’re not going to find the park completely empty any night that you visit. However, the crowds are concentrated in an unusual way on night one.

Instead of dispersing around the park at rides, trick-or-treating stops, and smaller entertainment offerings, the crowds tend to concentrate more on the big things — the parade, fireworks, castle stage show, popular characters, and anything new at that year’s party. Why? Because night one is when most influencers and bloggers come to the event.

People like us are there to report on the major highlights of the party and share that information with our followers. This means that if you visit on opening night, you’ll probably have to stake out your spot for the parade and fireworks well in advance. New characters will have longer lines than they will on other party nights, and don’t even get us started on the queues for any new popcorn buckets that drop!

So if you want a more relaxing party experience, we recommend you go later in the season. Crowds are lower and tickets are cheaper during parts of August and September, and the weather begins to cool down a bit in October. Plus, all the kinks will be worked out by then so that your night will go smoothly.
