NEWS: Disneyland Announces End of Advanced Dining Reservations at Oga’s Cantina

Big news out of Disneyland Resort today!

Oga’s Cantina is known as a highly sought-after spot for Star Wars fans, and for years now, it’s required reservations to get a spot inside the small space. Even if you do, there’s a time limit of 45 minutes inside to allow for more people to experience the bar. However, something massive has changed as of today — reservations are no longer available for the spot, and a standby line will be used instead.

Beginning today, August 19th, the Disneyland website confirms that Oga’s Cantina in Disneyland only (NOT Disney World!) will transition to walk-up availability with a traditional standby queue. No new reservations are being offered, but if you have an existing reservation, it will still be honored.

This was NOT something we expected to see happen, but our suspicion is that this spot no longer generates the same buzz it used to when it first opened, meaning that reservations aren’t full as often (especially days in advance). If more people are grabbing reservations on the day of their trip, it’s almost the same as just walking up to get a reservation.

However, this also means that you’ll have to wait in line outside in the heat before you can be allowed inside, IF the bar is full when you arrive. There may be times, though, that there’s room available when you arrive, in which case no wait will be necessary. Now that there’s no way to check reservations, though, it’ll be hard to tell how busy the area is without walking over.
